H'OKAY, so, internets, I've finally managed to catch up on some of the shows I used to talk about on here! I'm not sure if I'm quite up to doing reaction posts again or anything like that, but I feel even this is progress given the titanic funk I've been in lately.

Hart of Dixie )

Glee )

There are probably more shows that I should be catching up on but I can't remember them at the moment (did I ever talk about Sons of Anarchy? I'm still behind on that…). In the mean time, I'll just be over here re-reading some of my Marine books so that I can finally get Tunny through boot camp/SOI/Recon training and into Iraq so that this fucking crossover will stop making me feel like such a failboat. Ta!

I can't think of a way to even begin to organize everything into a coherent post, so I'm just gonna do this as a list.

1) I finished Breaking Bad a while back and just finished watching the Season 5 premiere, and I have to say it's pretty weird to see Bryan Cranston being unbelievably scary when I'm used to him being the hapless but good-hearted dad from Malcolm in the Middle. Also, the show has warped my brain so that I will now instinctively view every RV I ever clap eyes on for the rest of time as a secret rolling meth lab.

2) I'm really spectacularly awful at staying caught up on True Blood, but my aunt's vacation house in Colorado (in which I will be spending the next two weeks) has HBO, so I intend to remedy this problem forthwith.

3) I'm also really awful at staying caught up on The Newsroom, but I can solve this one too since I now have HBO that I don't have to wrestle out of the deepest darkest corners of the internet. I hear JGJr keeps getting more and more impossibly adorable and perfect though.

4) I realized an important perk of vacationing in a small mountain town today: I'll be able to go to the midnight showing of TDKR and very possibly have the whole theater to myself.

5) I HAD THE GERMINATIONS OF WORDS WHILE WE WERE ON THE ROAD TO GET HERE! Amusingly, it's shaping up to be a Will/Tunny road trip thing (like I do) which somehow came about when I was contemplating Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and The Motorcycle Diaries at about 2:30 in the morning. Idek, y'all, I'm just happy to have had a brief creative spark.

Other than that, there ain't much happening in my life these days. How's things out there in internetland?

Internets, I love football, and I live in a state that is internationally known for its stereotypical love of football, but can I just go on record and say that I think New York throwing a ticker tape parade because the Giants won the Super Bowl is fucking ridiculous?

Photobucket

They won the SUPER BOWL, not World War fucking Three, this shit just makes me tired.

Here, have a cute gif to make up for me and my #feelingz (and the extreme lack of Stark up in this post) )

P.S. - Apologies to any Giants fans out there on my flist, this just...touched a nerve. Or something.

P.P.S. - I've only seen Season 1 of Mad Men but, at a coworker's behest, I've decided to watch it all (including re-watching Season 1) on Netflix. Am starting to see why he claims I remind him of Joan for reasons other than the red hair and the fact that our body types are almost identical...

P.P.P.S. - Does anyone else find Eli Manning unbearably obnoxious and punchable just on general principle? Or is it just me and my anger issues?
emerald_skies: (Default)
I'mma keep this one relatively brief since my life is still pretty fucking boring at the moment.

1) T.V. shows I've caught up on:

- Sons of Anarchy - Much as I miss the long hair (which made him look like Le Boyfriend), I would still hit Jax/Charlie Hunnam like the fist of an angry god. Also? Clay needs to get hit by a bus or two...or twelve (I can't be the only one who's noticed that Ron Perlman is amazing at playing complete utter assholes). Plus I still so want to be Gemma when I grow up.

T.V. shows I've tried out (and promptly gotten hooked on):

- American Horror Story - I kind of love Connie Britton in this but, then again, I've known she was a badass ever since I watched her as Mrs. Coach in Friday Night Lights. Also, Idgaf if he's batshit and clingy and whiny, I kind of want to do horrible raunchy things to Tate (me and the rest of the fandom, from what little of it I've glimpsed so far). I love the show so much that I'm almost willing to forgive Ryan Murphy for all the horrible inconsistencies and shit he's perpetrated on Glee to date. Almost.

- Hart of Dixie - First of all, I kind of fucking love this show as someone who lives in the South because it gets an amazing number of things right. And then there's Wade. OH LAWD, don't even get me started on how much I love Wade and his glorious, lickable abs.

Photobucket

Photobucket

...I need more Wade gifs in my life.

As you might have noticed, the execs seem to lust after him almost as much as I do considering how much time he spends in various states of undress. For any GK fangirls out there who haven't tried this show yet, I highly recommend it.

2) Le Boyfriend and I are due to go see The Devil Inside at some point this evening (because I'm a horrible sucker for exorcism movies). Pray for us (choice of words fully intended), exorcism movies are usually either good or hilariously godawful. Personally, I think it looks like the bastard lovechild of Quarantine and The Exorcist with a touch of The Exorcism of Emily Rose -- which, again, could be great or just fucking awful. Possible review post material y/y?

3) My muse showed signs of life recently! I managed to knock out another scene in my Starsgard hurt/comfort piece (the one I haven't worked on in almost a year, for all three people who remember it) and revised/storyboarded a couple of other scenes. Raptor Jesus willing, I might even have another part up relatively soon *fingers crossed*

And aside from a head cold combined with a horrible case of cramps, that's all I've got for now. How are y'all?

Dude, I was noodling around on my iPhone with Law & Order on in the background and I suddenly realized one of the voices sounded familiar. So I looked up and it was PJ. As in PJ Ransone.

Photobucket

Yeah, holy shit. Unfortunately, he was playing a whiny bitch instead of a total boss like Ray, but it was still a definite O_o moment. I think that makes the third GK alum I've seen on L&O (the other two being Patterson and Godfather).

I stayed home from class yesterday to meet the cable guys (I had to since I don't have a car and Le Boyfriend needed his for student teaching). They eventually came and, after four fucking hours and some "technical difficulties" (don't even ask me to explain), what do I have to show for it?

Nothing.

Well, unless you count all the cable now bolted to my wall as something. I don't because NONE OF IT FUCKING DOES ANYTHING, but that might just be me.

So now the short and the short of it is that I STILL won't have internet at Le Flat until this coming Saturday at some point between 12:00 and 4:00 p.m. Until then, I'm stuck with phone email (read only *sigh*)/Twitter and on campus internet, plus the flickering unsecured signal that occasionally pops up from somewhere in my apartment complex.

Photobucket

I hate to sound whiny like this, but is it so unreasonable to wish that something would go right just once? Just to balance out all the bullshit? I know this isn't so bad in the larger scheme of things (I have a place to live, etc.), but it's making work/school/painless existence virtually impossible.

ETA: H'okay, to make up for the seriously whiny nature of this post, I watched and took notes on the Glee season premiere (on the off chance anyone is interested in my thoughts on it):

So, I started watching Sons of Anarchy either yesterday or the day before, and I think it's safe to say I'm pretty much hooked. I have a few things to say so far (as of somewhere in the middle of Season 2):

1) STOP 'SPLODING MY OVARIES, JAX, GODDAMN.

(Also, I ship the hell out of him and Tara, they're just asking for a fanvid about them set to Love The Way You Lie -- that is, in the unlikely event that such a thing doesn't already exist)

2) Does Hale remind anyone else of Nate for some reason? Or is it just me?

3) Dude, it cracks my shit up like no other that Gerry from Remember the Titans grew up to be Opie in SoA. The transformation is...startling (mind you, not as much as the difference between Nate and Lance Sussman, but pretty close).

4) HALF-SACK, WHY ARE YOU SO FUCKING ADORABLE?

(I want fic of him and Juice, as they are essentially the butt monkeys of Samcro -- I can't possibly be the only one who's thought of this)

5) Henry Rollins is good at being creepy. Like, really good. Also, he reminds me so much of PJ Ransone that it's actually kind of disturbing.

Watching this has also given me a killer hankering for a GK motorcycle club!AU. I saw such a thing posted somewhere a while back but I've lost track of the link, can someone help me out with that? Or, failing that, please to be writing or directing me to other MC!AU fics?

That's all I've got for now, have some JGroff being adorable to (hopefully) improve the day.

So, I've been trying to watch the T.V. version of Dresden Files and...it hasn't been going well. Normally I'm inclined to cut visual adaptations of books a little slack (sometimes you have to trim things for time or because they clutter up the story), but this? This series has virtually nothing in common with the books. NOTHING. It's like that thing I've heard people complain about in fandoms over the years where everything is so OOC that it's obvious the author just pasted canon names onto original fiction.

Ugh. Save me, internets, I think I might be turning into one of those obsessive neurotic types who hates everything adaptations get wrong. In the mean time, I'll be over here in the corner trying to write and trying not to have an aneurysm as this abomination of a T.V. series continues to butcher (HA!) one of my favorite book series of all time.

My reaction thus far:

When does it start?!

So, what do y'all think? I know I've sat through some otherwise crappy stuff because he was in it (Shall We Dance?, anyone?) so I'm all for it, but some among you might be less patient than me.

(I'm a compulsive Law & Order (and SVU) addict, this wouldn't be the first ridiculous cop drama I've watched)

Or, for those among you who are just as intrigued as I am, please feel free to drool in the comments over the glorious mental picture this pilot proposes.

The looks I got for singing along to it on the way to class this morning: Priceless.

I think Ray-Ray would be pleased, personally.

Also, I finally caught the most recent Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode last night. Bonus points for some of the shot-for-shot spoofs of Twilight's attempts at cinematography too XD

Anyway, that's all I've got for the moment. I should have review posts up at some point soon, and more Bat!fic (for which I'd still be pathetically grateful if someone would be willing to contribute some art) sooner rather than later. 1) Glee reaction posts:

Episode 2x03 'Grilled Cheesus' )

Episode 2x04 'Duets' )

2) Supernatural reaction posts:

Episode 6x01 'Exile on Main St.' )

Episode 6x02 'Two and a Half Men' )

Episode 6x03 'The Third Man' )

3) I sort of have this fic that [livejournal.com profile] abrokencompass and I were co-authoring like a million years ago, but the muse sort of ran out and so it's unfinished. I'm considering giving up and posting it here in its unfinished form -- would that interest anyone? It involves a drunken table dance (and the aftermath thereof), among other things.

Anyway, I'll have my remaining two SPN reaction posts up tomorrow, as well as (hopefully) some more Batman!AU ([livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n and I are working on it as I write this post). It should be interesting, so stay tuned :D

Salutations, internets. After spending an afternoon poring over medical journals until the words started to blur, I came home determined to resolve this computer issue bullshit once and for all. Dear God, how has it been three days already? Shit, time flies indeed.

Once again, not much has been happening 'round these parts so I just didn't feel there was anything to report. Aside from Le Boyfriend's continuing efforts to break me of my hermit-like tendencies (or at least lessen them). But anyway...

1) Went to Le Boyfriend's mother's birthday dinner at a hibachi place last night (think Benihana but off-brand). Opted out of letting the chef fling a bit of fried rice at my face in hopes of landing it in my mouth, as those usually hit me in the eye almost every time, but it was otherwise a pretty good night. I didn't even mind being squished up next to perfect strangers! (Occupational hazard of hibachi joints, yo)

2) This made me so angry I had to put the computer down and do something else for a while. Then again, mental disorders (especially stigmas toward and naysayers against them) are something of a touchy subject for me, so I suppose I brought the rage on myself. NONETHELESS.

3) Have also been watching a really absurd amount of Six Feet Under and Invader Zim with Le Boyfriend recently. Amusement ensued when we realized that the mother (Ruth) in SFU is the same woman who played Bootsie (the meek, over-religious maid) in Die Mommie Die. More for the contrast in character, really, but we'll also probably laugh our heads off over it when we get to the two episodes with Stark in them. Die Mommie Die reunion! Except SFU came out first by two years...SFU reunion then! \o/

...holy crap, the A.D.D. is strong in this post. Um. Anyway.

Stay tuned for a True Blood write-up, among other things. Things will probably get a bit more regular 'round these parts when school starts back up again -- I haven't decided yet if this will be out of boredom or out of school forcing my mind to unfuck itself back into something remotely resembling organized.

In any case, that's all I've got for now. Have a Courage Wolf!

P.S. - Le Boyfriend just told me about a joke macro involving the Legend of Vuvuzelda (yes, a direct spoof of Ocarina of Time). I LOVE IT.

P.P.S. - In talking about World Cup stuff, Le Boyfriend also posed an interesting question that I now pose to the soccer wonks of my flist:

Was there some incident a while back that led to a country's team being pulled out of the Cup (by their country's leader) for two years/series/sessions? If so, what happened and what country was it?

Hey there, internets. I was settling down to do the write-ups of the last twelve episodes of Supernatural Season 5, but then I realized that that would be a lot of text without a lot of substance, and I'm feeling...deep...today. Like discussion is the order of the day, y'know? So I just did an over-arcing write-up with some discussion points and questions and random comments that should have something for everyone.

In which I think too goddamn much and ask questions about details that probably don't mean anything... )

Also, I was watching Speed of Life (on Discovery Channel) with Le Sibling, and we decided a few things:

- Tl;dr of the show: Grungy film majors film animals eating other animals in really slow motion
- Bonus points if said animals are a) incredibly creepy and/or b) do nothing unless poked with the camera (this usually applies to snakes, spiders, and snapping turtles)
- Slow-motion footage of a sloth (which, for the record, move at 15 feet PER HOUR) seems like the very definition of unnecessary...
- Watching a hedgehog fight a scorpion was both hilarious and awesome
- Any location in which spiders the size of your hand (or bigger) are a common feature is a place I firmly do not want to visit unless I have a shotgun or a flamethrower

And that's all I've got for now. Brad reminds y'all to keep wings level

Ahoy there, internets! I come bearing the news that I'm almost done with my Supernatural write-ups and the exciting (well, if you're me) announcement that my muse might finally be starting to unstick a bit. I've been having flickers of ideas lately, which seems like a good sign.

But first, many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] idrilfinial and [livejournal.com profile] ladyseraph_756 for sending me Dessert Waffles <3 Like everyone else, they made me hungry as hell (but I loved them anyway).

Also, in an amusing anecdote of the "LOL my life" variety, I got a mass email this morning from the president of my university to tell me that some miscreant hacked one of the servers that Health Services uses. Addresses, prescription numbers, social security numbers and a host of other sensitive information (except credit card info, thank God) for 27,000 students/staff/faculty got out to some unknown party.

My reaction:

Anyway, I'll be off here in the corner finishing my Supernatural write-ups. Before I get on with the True Blood action, I'd just like to issue a big honkin' "Thank you" for the outpouring of support in my last post. I was touched beyond words and y'all made me legit smile in real life more than once and just...*sigh* as internet friends go (or friends period), you guys are the best. Bar none. Full stop. Thanks for bearing with the mopey/emo/teenager post

Anyway, let's get on with it:

1) True Blood Episode 3x03, 'It Hurts Me Too' )

2) True Blood Episode 3x04, '9 Crimes' )

3) True Blood Episode 3x05, 'Trouble' )

I have such a love-hate relationship with this show, y'all. It's so cracky and ridiculous and yet completely addictive (mostly because it teases me with a good episode for every LOLQUOI? episode or two). There's also the ASkars factor, but that sort of goes hand in hand with the crack aspect, at least where addictive potential is concerned. Stay tuned for a Supernatural post, and thanks for y'all's time; you guys know you rock, right?

Hee, I was thinking about Stark's impending return to television and I realized this will make the third HBO show he's done that I can think of off the top of my head. And he's already worked with Alan Ball (even if it was only for like two episodes of Six Feet Under). Through some twisty, fangirlish pathway in my brain, this led to the conclusion that it's only a matter of time before he pops up on True Blood as Eric's pretty-but-psychotically-badass love slave (which would quite possibly cause me to achieve Nerdvana).

C'mon, Alan Ball, the man is a) obscenely good-looking (and great at the whole youthful-outside-but-notsomuch-inside thing), b) GREAT at playing crazy and sexy against each other, and c) a pretty good actor all around. Plus, as my icon demonstrates, he's not exactly uncomfortable with nudity (which would totally happen, Mr. Ball, because you would perv all over him just like you do with Ryan Kwanten).
Photobucket

...*ahem* Moving on.

In addition to my creativity getting stuck, I think my comedy muse is starting to stick too (I can't make with the funny as easily as usual). This is arguably more distressing than my creative muse going all comatose on me -- I love humor, so it really pains me that it's not as easy right now.

On the other hand, Le Boyfriend and I did get Le Sibling (whose birthday is today) Zombieland and The Men Who Stare At Goats as presents...maybe I'll go watch those and see what knocks loose. Here's hoping, anyway *shrug*
