Alas, Stark didn't win (the nomination is still nice, though), but Billy Porter's acceptance speech melted my heart into a little puddle of feelings so I wasn't even mad really. Plus Stark winked at the camera. No joke.

Ahoy-hoy, internets! I'm not dead, I was just off re-charging my metaphorical batteries since I took (and aced) my last final on Friday morning. Lots and lots of sleep and working on fic (progress has been made on both the AI costume!fic and the GK/AI crossover) and generally enjoying my utter lack of university-related obligations for the next three(ish) weeks.

Anyway, in the course of noodling around on my flist (as I am wont to do), I stumbled across (and shamelessly stole) this article about the "secret sex lives of teachers" (*eyeroll*) that, among other things, mentions teachers writing "online fan fiction -- everything from Harry Potter slash to naughty renderings of Jane Austen." That's a verbatim quote, btw.

The overall tone of the article appears to be very "Who cares?" (provided that the extracurricular activities are legal and not hurting anyone), which pleases me, but the information it offers -- rather than the opinions of the writer herself -- is rather...um...worrisome (even for me).

I have no desire to be a teacher (as a matter of fact, I would be spectacularly awful at it), but part of the process of moving up the food chain in the athletic training world involves at least a bit of working at high schools, so I could theoretically be under similar scrutiny some day. I deliberately make it virtually impossible to connect the dots between my fandom life and my real life, but the internet keeps coming up with new and exciting ways to stalk people these days, so I might not be as well-concealed as I originally thought. Oh well, I have some time between now and when I would be working in high schools, so who knows? Maybe things will calm down a bit between now and then.

Also, as a tangentially related side note, it sort of cracks me up to imagine what those hyperactive paranoid parents would think if they knew that some of their kids (*coughs and raises hand*) were probably writing similarly raunchy -- if not even raunchier -- fic than their teachers. I can't decide if they would write it off as kids being kids or if they would freak out even worse because they would see it as the big bad internets corrupting their precious babies.

Thoughts from you, internets? I know at least a couple of flisters have talked about teaching, but this could possibly reach out into more career fields than that.

So, internets, remember how I mentioned that Le Boyfriend and I have acquired a kitten (that my neighbors are currently petsitting)? And how I said I would post pictures? Welp, here they are!

So that's Le Boyfriend's and my new kitty, circa 10ish weeks old (if my neighbor's estimate of her age was correct). I know my RL posts on here can be kind of dull, but hopefully the adorable bb!kitty kind of makes up for it. In terms of fandom, work is slowly (but surely) continuing on my GK/AI crossover and mcl4r3n should be getting back from traveling soon so the vamp!fic will also (hopefully) be coming out of hiatus sometime this week. Stay tuned!

Today was the first Thursday in quite sometime in which I didn't have to wake up at 6 a.m. (for my godawful 7 a.m. lab class). I actually got to sleep until noon, I was so happy I almost cried. Which might possibly be a sign of how stressed I've been recently. *ahem*

All right, so, I've worked out some possible dates/times for the Die Mommie Die watch post in stark_sands (details here for those who didn't know/forgot). I'm posting them here first so a fresh pair of eyes can tell me if there's anything wrong with these dates/times before I make a poll out of them and post to the comm itself. I don't see any problems, but I could easily be missing something.

This is also, of course, assuming I don't fail horribly at timezone conversions...

Also, in the midst of procrastinating on my NYC packing, I've been kicking around the possible idea of a Starsgard vampire AU (something about Alex playing a vampire on T.V. but Stark actually being one amuses me immensely). So, fellow fangirls; good idea? Horrible idea? Or should I just shut up, get off the internet, and pack my shit?

P.S. - Forgot to mention that I went to see Voyage of the Dawn Treader avec Le Boyfriend the other day. A few things:

1) I think Edmund is doomed to be gangly and awkward in perpetuity. I wonder if the actor is really like that or if it's just spectacular acting.
2) Eustace was far more enjoyable after he foolishly touched the huge, suspicious pile of gold.
3) I couldn't help but notice that Ben Barnes was trying subtly to morph into Aragorn. It was the hair and the mysterious disappearance of his Spanish-esque accent, I think.
4) There should be some law against having people who aren't Eddie Izzard doing the voice of Reepicheep.
