Howdy all, just checking in with a couple of things so y'all know I'm not dead or anything.

1) Because it's been about a million years since my last ASkars post:

Raptor Jesus bless all personal trainers... )

My face at that pic:

Photobucket

2) Glee and Supernatural reaction posts are in progress, but might still be a while because I'm doing about five gazillion other things at the same time. Apologies for the wait.

3) More Bat!fic is also coming very soon. Including things that bumped its overall rating into the R/NC-17 range. Stay tuned :D

I'll also probably compile a list of big bang recs at some point soon, once I get a chance to actually read them /o\

Salutations, internets. After spending an afternoon poring over medical journals until the words started to blur, I came home determined to resolve this computer issue bullshit once and for all. So, one cleaned up hard drive (I erased a bunch of language display options I'll never need) and whole lot of determination in spite of an astonishingly shitty internet connection later, I bring you...

The famously ill-fated True Blood write-ups! The last for this season.

1) Episode 3x10 'I Smell A Rat' )

2) Episode 3x11 'Fresh Blood' )

3) Episode 3x12 'Evil Is Going On' )

I'm not even really sure what to say at this point, y'all. I'm still processing the cracky little clusterfuck that was the last episode in particular, Enjoy!

ETA: Soooooo, GK-wise, this photo album was just brought to my attention. In spite of the fact that Billy's facial hair in some pics alarms and bewilders me, I think I'll be looking at this for the next two...maybe three hours. Oh boys <3

Oh my fucking God, I officially love the internet (of course, by the internet, I mean my flist). How could I not? It brings me little gems like this:

Gacked once again without shame from [livejournal.com profile] lauracoy [livejournal.com profile] chapmangrl because Youtube ganked the first one

When he first moved to pull off his shirt, I was like this

and then I almost passed out laughing (with bonus half-suffocating from stifling it to keep from waking up La Famille).

Also, I can't help but notice how...um...handsy...he is when he's drunk. Or, on the other hand, if he's sober in this and is this much of a dork on his own, that just makes me fucking adore him all the more.

Side note: I need a Starsgard fic of something like this in my life. I might be able to write it myself (Rock Band shenanigans y/y?), but I might just explode from glee if someone else writes something.

Cheers.

P.S. - This could just be him being European, but I can't help noticing the manpris...they might or might not make me wonder if he and Stark have been swapping clothes again...

Internets, I give you conclusive proof that I'm pretty sure we're all in the wrong line of work:

1) Old business/catching up:
- Geeking out about American Idiot post (includes vids of their performances at the Tony Awards)
- Thoughts on Glee Season 1 and up to the middle of Season 4 of Supernatural
- Lyrics challenge (four songs left unsolved)

Now, new business!

2) Supernatural thoughts on Season 5 (because I was asked to post my thoughts on it once I got started)
Episode 5x01, 'Sympathy for the Devil' )

Episode 5x02, 'Good God, Y'all!' )

3) True Blood thoughts on Season 3 (because I feel like it)
Episode 3x01, 'Bad Blood' )

4) A review of the remake of The Karate Kid
Photobucket
Wax on, wax off... )

That's all for now, more ramblings on SPN to come (among many other things). Have some bathing!Eric for your time, internets

1) The Tonys are on tonight! I'm still praying American Idiot wins Best Musical just to piss off all the Broadway snobs (well, that and because the Idiots will perform Good Riddance if they win, and that I want to see).

2) After what feels like ages, True Blood is also back tonight!
Photobucket

However, I may need some help finding a good stream to watch it on, because I discovered last night that the cable package at the Ol' Homestead doesn't include HBO (apparently, we need a cable box for that). Anyone know of a good place to go for a good stream?

3) I have a jumble of thoughts about Supernatural (As a point of reference, I'm somewhere in the middle of Season 4) )

4) I also have some thoughts about the first season of Glee now that it's over. (Warning: may get slightly incoherent) )

Anyway, that's all I've got for now. Have some flying!Brad for your time

Dear lawn/yard crew,

Did you really, really have to get started at eight in the morning? I actually managed to get to bed early and stay asleep all the way through the night for once and you start up your astonishingly loud equipment RIGHT NEXT TO MY WINDOW at EIGHT IN THE BLOODY MORNING. And then proceeded to do your usual (loud) thing, which just guaranteed that I won't be able to go back to sleep.

Go away before my violent impulses get the better of me.

1) I have joined the ranks of the gainfully employed! SUCCESS!

Photobucket

Okay, so it's a part-time gig but it's at a fun place and the pay is great so I'll take it!

2) My schedule for this coming semester is looking pretty awesome. Barring any serious changes, I'm only going to have in-person (as opposed to online) class two days a week (even though all the credits add up to a respectable 13 hours). God bless college :D

3) In True Blood news, Some crappy Season 3 stills have been making their way around my flist (NSFW) )

4) My thoughts on the most recent episode of Glee, Episode 1x20, 'Theatricality' (a.k.a. The Gaga Episode) )

Anyway, between all that and my catch-up post from last night, that's all I've got for now.

Um....okay. So I've been watching my next disc of OZ Season 1 and I just got to a very...surprising...scene.

What in the actual FUCK? )

Just in case I didn't mention it before; I LOVE THIS SHOW. Such a fucking head trip.

Cheers.

So, internets, I kindof overestimated myself when I said I'd have my Shiver review post up today. Or, rather, I underestimated my life -- the baseball game I was covering also included a softball game, which added two hours onto my entire schedule and just plain wore me out. I'm serious y'all, everything hurts. My arms were trembling when I picked up my backpack to head home, I'm actually pretty impressed that I'm still awake right now. Don't get me wrong, I actually had a great time (softball was boring, baseball was exciting), but it was so completely draining x_x

So, in order to produce a relatively coherent review post, I plan to get some serious rest and post the thing (for real) tomorrow. That way, I can offer more valuable insights and have the extra time/energy to screencap the damn thing. I have high hopes for this weekend since I have no huge assignments or anything looming (I might be able to even, dare I say it, get some more fic done!)

In short, I'm sorry this post failed to be funny or even remotely interesting (such is my life). Have one of my favorite scenes from all of Generation Kill for your time:

EMERGENCY EDIT TO ADD: WELL BY GOD I MIGHT BE ABLE TO SALVAGE THIS POST AFTER ALL:

I SAY GOTDAMN (aka Swedish Mancandy Part 2) )

Good God a'mighty, ASkars, why so stupidly hot?
emerald_skies: (Default)
Urgh. Internets, do you ever have moments where you sit back, re-examine your life, and think "My God, what am I smoking?" Yeah, those tend to happen to me during these particularly busy times in my college life. It could just be my brain berating me for making it suffer through the Biomechanics test I had today, though.

So, to spare us all from my bellyaching, I come bearing a particularly delectable piece of mancandy that's been popping up all over my flist lately:

Cut for size and to spare those with heart conditions )

Man, it's been too long since I had an ASkars post.

Secondly, a meme I gacked from [livejournal.com profile] spirited_lizard

Where do I keep finding these? )

In keeping with the theme of today's mancandy, sunny!ASkars thanks you for your time:

P.S. - My Shiver review post will go up after I finish covering a baseball game tomorrow night. I promise!

Oh, internets, today has been such an epically funny day in terms of wheelchair basketball clinic duty. The two funniest things I've heard all day (quite possibly all week) came from the same guy:

"I like how orange is both a flavor and a color" (he was mooching off my Skittles)

and then later

"I wanna go to a women's self-defense class so I can learn all their tricks"

Context to the second one so he doesn't sound like a creeper: One of the other guys was telling a story about how this woman freaked and ran when he asked her to help him put his chair in his car. A wtf moment, considering that the "stranger danger" factor is relatively low coming from a guy in a wheelchair (with obviously atrophied legs so you know he's not kidding). So the one telling the story was talking about how his mental response was "Jesus, lady, I'm not gonna rape you!" and then the topic somehow jumped to the university's women's self-defense courses, and that's where this quote came from.

I guess those are pretty "you had to be there", but I thought they were funny (seriously, my face hurts from laughing). Just so I didn't completely waste your time, have this glorious ASkars gif:

Cheers.

Edit: Le Boyfriend just volunteered to sit down and watch Kill Your Darlings with me. This ought to be good.
emerald_skies: (Default)
Alrighty then! Here, as promised, is my Kill Your Darlings review post (after [livejournal.com profile] southoffebruary planted this movie in my brain). But first, a meme that I gacked from [livejournal.com profile] lycoris:

What color am I? (cut to spare flists from wonky formatting) )

Huh. For once, that's actually a pretty accurate description of me (usually, memes that attempt to describe me have at least one "LOL no" thing in them).

Anyway, on to the actual Kill Your Darlings stuff...

Notes taken as I watched the movie... )

And then the actual review...

The lovely miss Skarsgard invites you in... )

And finally, a humorous moment with Le Boyfriend:

Le Boyfriend (after I explain what I'm watching): Oh, so gaySkars, huh?
Me: *blinks* Come again?
Le Boyfriend: You said "Skarsdrag", I call it "gaySkars"
Me: ...you are seriously unhinged, ASkars is not gay.
Le Boyfriend: Even though you think he and that Stark guy are boyfriends.
Me: ...
Le Boyfriend: *"Well?" eyebrows*
Me: He'snotgayhe'sEuropeanokay? *mutters*

*sighs* That man is going to be the death of me one day.

This one went a lot faster because I had the Flags of Our Fathers post to serve as a template -- hopefully, these posts will streamline (and stay funny) as time goes on. According to my Netflix queue, Pretty Persuasion is next, followed by Brotherhood of the Wolf. Considering Pretty Persuasion a) is pretty weird in its own right and b) has Stark in ridiculously hot prep mode, hilarious flailing and fangirling is pretty much a guarantee.

Edit to add: The amazing [livejournal.com profile] chapmangrl gave me gifs of some of my favorite parts, so I'm so adding them to the post. Enjoy! :D
