So I saw The Host with Le Boyfriend yesterday (bless him for going along to some terrible movies just so I can fangirl) and…wow. I have a truly astonishing streak of masochism when it comes to fangirling actors I like (but we know this already). Max Irons was kind of disappointing, but Jake Abel was pretty good in spite of the crappy material and looks like a really good kisser and Saiorse Ronan did the best she could, but the whole thing was kind of a hilarious mess of random punching and even more random making out. Worth renting just for a cute guy fix and for the lolz, if anything.

(Side note: People who still watch SPN, is Adam/Michael still languishing down in Hell? I might be persuaded to pick it up again if he comes back…)

In real world news, I still don't have a job yet but one of my RL friends is going to try to pull some strings for me, so we'll see how that turns out. In the mean time, I interviewed for PTA school a couple of days ago and feel pretty good about it, so I get to spend the next couple of weeks doing jury duty and waiting to find out if I got in or not IN ADDITION to hoping I can finally get a job. I guess this is where the frantic praying and nursing of ulcers comes in?

H'OKAY, so, internets, I've finally managed to catch up on some of the shows I used to talk about on here! I'm not sure if I'm quite up to doing reaction posts again or anything like that, but I feel even this is progress given the titanic funk I've been in lately.

Hart of Dixie )

Glee )

There are probably more shows that I should be catching up on but I can't remember them at the moment (did I ever talk about Sons of Anarchy? I'm still behind on that…). In the mean time, I'll just be over here re-reading some of my Marine books so that I can finally get Tunny through boot camp/SOI/Recon training and into Iraq so that this fucking crossover will stop making me feel like such a failboat. Ta!

So, for those who haven't seen my Twitter, I got fired this past Friday. I was given an extremely vague and unhelpful warning during a mini-performance review (a few weeks before) saying that I needed to back off and not ask so many questions, so I did, and then this past Friday I was told that "people still had concerns" (it never got more specific than that) and that it just wasn't working out in general. In short, as best I can understand it, I got fired because I was too new, not learning the ropes fast enough, and everyone was supposedly too busy to train me properly.

I think my favorite part of this, however, is the fact that it happened four days before I would have been legally eligible for unemployment benefits and, subsequently, my (ex) boss would have been forced to provide a detailed explanation for why I was fired.

I consider myself a fairly tough person and I've made it through my fair share of setbacks -- hell, I'll probably make it through this one too -- but really, a person can only handle so many disappointments at one time. How the fuck am I supposed to pay for PTA school or graduate school now? :/

Things I have learned(/relearned) recently:

1) Who you know really does matter more than what you can do (especially in the job world)*
2) "Qwerty" counts in Words with Friends
3) As does "whitey"
4) Netflix is Raptor Jesus's gift to the unemployed

I would have included a Chris Evans gif or something but Photobucket is being difficult. How are you guys?

* - I haven't been called back for an interview yet, but the friend's mom who's been helping me said that she's passed my resumé on to a couple more people, and I contacted a physical therapist who's looked after members of my family before who said that he'd call the HR people at his hospital on my behalf very soon. Slow but steady progress, in other words.

Number of hospital jobs applied to in the last week: 4
Number of previous for which I'm qualified: 4
Number of jobs that have called me back since previous: 0
Number of hours spent wallowing in haze of self-loathing over previous: Can't count that high

Why won't anyone hire meeeeee?

Unemployment sucks, kids, the numbers don't lie.

That being said, have a Stark video to make up for this brief moment of whining. Cut to prevent autoplay and formatting wonkiness )
