THING THE FIRST: I finally got my camera! After I wrestled the box open, I promptly spent the next thirty minutes annoying the bejeezus out of Le Boyfriend with scenarios like...

Me: *holds up tiny plastic whatsit* The heck is this?
Le Boyfriend: That's the battery.
Me: *holds up another tiny plastic whatsit* And this?
Le Boyfriend: That's the battery charger.

And so on. There was also much marveling over how friggin' tiny it is (seriously, it's the same approximate dimensions as a box of Altoids). Y'all might laugh at me for my confusion over the many tiny plastic whatsits -- which, incidentally, have a frightening talent for disappearing -- and the battery but, for reference, the last digital camera I had regular access to a) belonged to my family, b) was roughly the size of your standard full-size matchbox (or a smaller film camera), and c) ran on AA batteries. In other words, I AM NEW TO THE TINY CAMERAS OF THE FUTURE, OKAY?

I'm also impressed with all the software functions. It auto-corrects red-eye (I used to have to do that on my computer), has a blink detector (which is causing me no end of amusement), and can distinguish/orient faces in a given frame (it puts little blinky white corners around them). The jury's still out on whether it can slice/dice/make julien fries, but I wouldn't put it past this thing. I fully intend to spend the rest of the afternoon playing with it -- which might involve further annoying the bejeezus out of Le Boyfriend.

THING THE SECOND: I finished my finals today! Spanish was easy (God bless online classes), Stress Management was easy (see previous), Sports Nutrition was so-so (I barely studied anyway because I'm pretty sure I could've skipped it and still made a low B in the class), and Physiology of Exercise was GOOD GOD SO STUPIDLY HARD. Well, the essay wasn't so hard, but there were parts of the multiple choice that had me going like this:

Photobucket

Except quietly in my seat. At least I wasn't the only one writhing in anguish.

THING THE THIRD: I finally got Le Batfic posted to AO3 for ease of re-reading (and posting to [livejournal.com profile] generation_kill. I was delighted to discover that it doesn't freak out at LJ formatting, but enraged at how MOTHERFUCKING SLOW it is, and then there was this whole thing where it posted an extra chapter and I couldn't figure out WHY. Much rending of garments (figuratively speaking) ensued until I finally figured out that it had somehow posted the last chapter twice.

THING THE FOURTH: I should probably get around to picking out possible dates/times for the Die Mommie Die re-watch in [livejournal.com profile] stark_sands. Um.

THING THE FIFTH: Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] muthine! I bring you eyefucking as a birthday present
Photobucket

THING THE LAST: The New York trip is in four days. FOUR DAYS.

Photobucket

Plans for a meet-up are in progress (with a million thanks to [livejournal.com profile] pjvilar for helping with my hilariously awful planning skills). Incoherent flailing has already begun.

That's it for now! How are y'all?

So, internets, [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n and I kinda sorta finally finished Le Batfic. Like, really finished it. Final word count is about 52,000 words (give or take a few hundred after overall revisions). Holyshit.

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis (Part 14/Epilogue)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies and [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n
Summary: In which Brad gives a gift and makes an important visit, while Ray and Walt grow closer in more ways than one. All's well that ends well!

'Jesus, Joseph, and doggy-style Mary, Walt!' )

Comments of all kinds are, as usual, always welcome and fully encouraged. In the mean time, enjoy!

So, internets, this is the last chapter of Le Batfic proper (there's still an epilogue coming). As in, we'll probably finish the whole story (epilogue included) this week. Holy shit.

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis (Part 13)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies and [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n
Summary: In which Walt steps up, the Joker goes down, and Brad and Nate show an extraordinary talent for bluffing.

Ray always enjoys hanging out with Walt before he has to get ready to patrol... )

Enjoy and, as usual, any and all comments are both welcome and encouraged (be they long and ramble-tastic or short and to the point).

Cheers.

Howdy doo, internets! Just popping in once again to drop off some Batfic for y'all while I work on a more substantial reaction post...thingy. So far, Poindexter (that would be my computer) is cooperating -- let's hope it lasts until I can finish the damn reactions this time. Anyway, BATFIC!

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis (Part 12)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies and [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n
Summary: In which Evan takes a stand, Nate takes a few hard knocks, and the Joker ups the ante. And somewhere in the middle, Ray and Walt get a moment for themselves.

So the preview thing is back again and extra long this time. Hope y'all liked this part (preview and all) -- feel free to comment as much or as little as is comfortable, as usual :)

Just popping in to drop off the second half of Part 11 of Le Batfic.

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis (Part 11b)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies and [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n
Summary: In which Nate has to remind Brad that underestimating him is a really bad idea and Brad learns that there can be benefits to admitting one's mistakes.

When Brad originally thought of it, having Nate train with him and Rudy seemed like a great idea... )

I don't have a preview ready this time because this part stops where we stopped so far and we're still deciding what exactly will happen next (I may just save the preview for when I have the start of a next scene handy). Enjoy and (as usual) fell free to comment with as much (or as little) feedback as you like!

Cheers.

All right, internets, here's the deal.

Basically, between my computer fucking up the file and the fact that my free time keeps disappearing into the ethers, I'm going to postpone my reaction posts until my Thanksgiving break (which starts on Wednesday night). I could throw something short and crappy together really fast, but I want to do this shit right, which makes it a lot more time consuming.

Feel free to judge the shit out of me, I already feel pretty stupid about it as it is :-\

In the mean time, have a half-part (or a short full part, as it were) of some more Batfic as an apology:

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis (Part 11a)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies and [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n
Summary: A short little interlude in which Nate and Brad do their level well best to charm the pants off each other. Possibly literally.

Nate sips green tea in his favorite little Japanese restaurant... )

I decided on a spur of the moment impulse to try out that preview thing. Love it? Hate it/think it's unfair teasing? Let me know! Hope y'all like the rest in the mean time :)

Internets, have I mentioned recently that I really hate computers sometimes? Because seriously, y'all wanna know what mine just did? It crashed the notepad program I was writing my reaction posts on and now the file is acting all fucked up and shit. I can probably fix it but still

Photobucket

Fucking computers, how do they work?

In other news, college still sucks and is overrated (water is also still wet, news at eleven!)

...Ahem.

Anyway, have some more Batfic to tide y'all over in the mean time ([livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n and I had a productive day).

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis (Part 10)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies and [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n
Summary: In which Ray and Brad have a heart-to-heart and Brad and Nate have a serious misunderstanding (but all becomes clear soon enough).

Comments of any and all lengths are welcome and encouraged, as usual. Enjoy!

Cheers.

P.S. - Le Boyfriend has yet to die from the expired bacon. Will keep y'all posted as more develops.

Howdy do, internets! I have something of a surprise for y'all (well, for the GK fangirls and fic readers, anyway).

More batfic!

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis (Part 9)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n and [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Summary: In which the chips don't quite come down like our heroes expect, and Brad and Nate spend a morning getting to know each other better.

The soft crackle of the radio wakes Brad up immediately... )

Apologies for the wait, I hope this part makes up for it :) Comments (of any length) are welcome and encouraged and, as usual, enjoy!

Cheers.

So, internets, I come bearing bad news and good news.

The bad news (for Stark fangirls):

HBO isn't picking up The Miraculous Year. Which, long story short, means Stark isn't coming back to T.V. any time soon.

Photobucket

Yeah, I know :-\

The good news (for GKers and fans of the fic I post here alike):

More batfic!

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis (Part 8)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n and [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Summary: In which Nate learns there's more to Brad Colbert than anyone might ever guess, Ray stumbles across something important (twice), and Brad finally opens up when the chips come down.

For what feels like the millionth fucking time that evening, Brad adjusts his god-damned bowtie... )

As usual, comments are both loved and encouraged. Hope y'all like it :)

Cheers.

Oh dear lord, internets, words don't exist for how tired and sick and just...blah...I am right now. Allow me to explain:

1) First of all, I'm still sick. I've been hacking my lungs out since pretty much forever, I've developed a slight fever, and now also have a sinus headache -- all of these suggest that the problem is a sinus infection.

2) The higher level of stress than usual on account of a sudden mountain of schoolwork probably doesn't help matters. In fact, it probably explains why I've been sick for the last week and a half to two weeks.

3) I found out the night before last that La Famille's beloved 13 year old black Lab suddenly lost use of his legs and couldn't walk under his own power anymore. The vet tried medicine but it didn't work, so the dog made his very last trip to the vet yesterday afternoon.

La Famille is (quite understandably) not taking it very well. Dad even started talking about how watching the vet do this made him realize how crazy it is that people can't legally choose to die (think Kevorkian) in this country. Without going into long, exceptionally boring details, this is weirder than usual political ramblings even for him.

Me, I mostly feel disoriented over the fact that something that's been around for more than half my life won't be there anymore, and I definitely feel really sad for how my Dad is handling all this (he loved that dog like a third child), but I just feel weirdly blank about the loss of the dog himself.

Given all these combined factors and the fact that I'm running on a maximum of two hours of sleep at the moment, I think I've just hit a wall in terms of how much stress and bad news I can take. I don't feel all weepy, I'm not angry, I basically just don't feel anything. So, until I recover and get my sense of humor back, I'm postponing my reaction posts for at least a couple of days.

As a peace offering (and proof that I still love and haven't forgotten y'all), have more batfic:

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis (Part 7)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n and [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Summary: In which Evan gets a raw deal, Nate gets a pleasant surprise, Brad and Walt get dealt one hell of a wild card, and Ray sucks at helping (only not really).

Much as his officers might bitch and moan about their temporary offices, Nate actually kind of likes being in the courthouse basement... )

Feel free to comment as much as you want (there's no such thing as a too long feedback comment to me), and, of course, enjoy!

First of all, a letter:

Dear certain denizens of [livejournal.com profile] sf_drama,

I've seen y'all go to some pretty impressive lengths in snarking someone (or several someones), but I've never been disappointed in such a large number of you until yesterday. You lot really fucking outdid yourselves in this here post.

I'm so disgusted by the fact that any one of you considered a post to a mental health support community fair game -- especially considering that it seemed to me like the poster was having a bad day in brain chemistry land. I suppose I'd be okay if someone spoke to the poster directly about the issue (since bigoted statements should be addressed in some way, regardless of mental health), but airing the post for a bunch of strangers to lambast was just incredibly gross to me.

There are other issues I have with that post, but that's another rant for another day so I'll just say that the above was my biggest problem.

In the immortal words of Sixta: "UNFUCK Y'SELVES!",
[livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies

And, on a more interesting (and mostly less rage-inducing) note, some further Batman!AU, but with an important caveat first:

From here on out, the story is going to occasionally have some pretty violent moments. This part in particular isn't traumatizing or anything, but just keep this in mind in the next few parts.

I get the sense that most of you can handle some violence, but I don't want to catch anyone by surprise.

With that being said, on to the Batfic!

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis (Part 6)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies and [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n
Summary: In which Brad loses his temper, Walt saves the day (in more ways than one), and someone gets lucky.

'You don't think he turned around to keep looking for Nate?' Walt asks... )

Think of that as a peace offering (of sorts) for the evil cliffhanger of last time. Meanwhile, I'll just be over here boggling at the fact that this sucker's hovering around 20,000 words (by a few hundred give or take) and [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n and I still have some distance to go with the plot /o\

Stay tuned for the RHPS Glee episode reaction post and, provided my sudden ungodly influx of schoolwork doesn't crush me, possibly my KFH review post. Of course, every time I say I'm going to do that damn review post, life gets in the way and I wind up having to postpone it *grumble*

In the mean time, have this gi--

Well, internets, I don't have as much for you today but what little I have should be plenty entertaining. Hopefully.

First, the two remaining Supernatural reaction posts (apologies for lateness):

Episode 6x04 'Weekend at Bobby's' )

Episode 6x05 'Live Free or Twi-hard' )

Aaand more Bat!fic.

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis (Part 5)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies and [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n
Summary: In which Brad and Nate both take some hard knocks, Nate takes a leap of faith, a new player joins the game (and what a card he is), and everything comes to a boil.

Brad regains consciousness slowly at first... )

For those who have questions about the ending of this part, don't worry -- you won't have to wait too long for some answers ;)

Stay tuned for a Glee reaction post and, quite possibly, my Kung Fu Hustle review post (at last).

So, this here's basically another odd & ends post.

1) An entertaining video I found on [livejournal.com profile] stark_sands that doesn't really tell us anything new but DOES have tasty gratuitous shirtless closeups (AI stuff starts at approximately the 5 minute mark) )

Yes, I'm fully aware that I have no shame. At least the part about how the makeup team ages his tattoos with powder to make them look real is interesting?

2) I know I said I'd post my remaining SPN reaction posts today, but school and fic essentially took over my brain the entire afternoon, so I'm postponing it to tomorrow. Feel free to throw things at me, I know this is getting ridiculous -_-

3) Aaaaand more Batman!AU (which is now approximately 14,000 words ohGod /o\):

The tag page for previous parts can be found here

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis (Part 4)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies and [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n
Summary: In which our heroes further develop their working relationship, all hell breaks loose, Walt gets into trouble, and Nate finds himself in a rather unique position.

The next morning, Nate unlocks his office and notices it's colder than usual... )

Apologies for the cliffhanger. I hope y'all liked it otherwise :D

Actually, it's kind of a big surprise. "About 3700 words" big, to be more accurate.

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis (Part 3)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies and [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n
Summary: In which storm clouds build on a seemingly sunny horizon and we see two sides to a particular coin.

Godfather leans against his desk as he silently finishes the report in his hands... )

Enjoy (and thanks for waiting so patiently)!

Cheers.

Salutations, internets!

First, I know I said a large chunk of Batman!fic would be up soon, but overall revisions got more complicated than we were expecting (because this thing keeps expanding), so I decided to post a smaller part that's already pretty set to tide y'all over.

(Link to the fic's tag page for previous parts: here)

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis (Part 2)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies and [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n
Summary: In which Brad has an idea, Nate gets a surprise, and things start to get complicated (as they are wont to do).

The plot thickens! )

Because I am totally neurotic and perfectionist when it comes to writing, many many edits will probably occur throughout the day depending on how strong the urge to nitpick gets. In the mean time? Enjoy!

Also, many thanks to everyone for their support in my Inception/Tom Hardy/sleeping-pill-induced rambling post. Please continue being awesome, internets.

Finally, because I (for once) don't have a huge looming assignment due next week, I'll actually be able to sit down and tackle a bunch of review posts over the weekend (including two Glee posts, two Supernatural posts, and the Kung Fu Hustle post). Oh God, what is my life /o\

Things I learned from watching Zorro earlier this afternoon:

- Anything and everything Antonio Banderas does is sexy. Even getting into a shouting match with Catherine Zeta-Jones.

- Catherine Zeta-Jones uses the same mix of witchcraft and virgin blood as Stark to avoid obvious signs of aging.

- Grand, sweeping, Spanish-sounding orchestral arrangements make everything better. Everything.

- Rich people are bad (unless they are Zorro).

- Americans are worse (rich Americans are, by extension, the Antichrist).

This was the second movie but, now that I think of it, those pretty much apply to all of them.

Anyway, here's the long-promised first snippet of the GK Batman!AU [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n and I have been cooking up:

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis
Author(s): [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies and [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n
Pairing: Brad/Nate
Rating: PG-13 so far (for language and violence)
Summary: A Batman AU featuring Brad as Batman, Ray as Alfred (yes, you read that correctly), Walt as Robin, and many others.
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. No profit is being made, all non-original content is the property of its respective owners, no infringement is intended, etc.
Author’s note: Many thanks to everyone who gave feedback, helped with the little details, or just generally waved pom-poms in support of this little story that could. This story is for all of you <3

The weather forecast for the greater Gotham area promises that the thundershowers of earlier in the afternoon will melt off by nightfall… )

Happy (very late) birthday, [livejournal.com profile] pjvilar. Hope you like your present *g*

Cheers.
