Blargh. So I just got out of the first test in my Drugs & Behavior class and I'm not feeling super confident about how I did. Mostly because there were a gazillion questions about the central/peripheral/autonomic/somatic/sympathetic/parasympathetic nervous system and I've never been able to keep all that shit straight. I guess the world's lucky I don't want to be a neurologist...

Anyway, on an unrelated note, how are y'all? I used to talk to a bunch of you outside LJ but now it feels like you've all disappeared. I still love you guys and miss the hell out of you, I'm just internetless and getting my ass kicked by real life at the moment. Come back to meeee *grabby hands*

On the bright side, my muse may be coming back -- it stirred with the ghost of an idea for the GK/AI crossover while I was taking my test. The idea died before I could get out of the test and write it down, but that's still a good sign, right? Right?

This random hedgehog thanks y'all for your time:

P.S. - I have a collection of scratches and general lacerations on my hands/forearms on account of my cat, and I've been getting the weirdest fucking looks from people for them all day. I don't get it, do they think I'm cutting myself and just suck at being sneaky about it?

P.P.S. - So I heard Lea Michele and Theo Stockman split recently. Is it sad that I was kind of gleeful about it because this means Theo can creep on Esper and Stark everyone without looking entirely like a gigantic jackass?

So my muse crapped out on me again this morning. I've been sitting here staring at my various open WIPs in desperate hope that an idea will hit me like a bolt out of the blue, but so far? Nothing. I want to write and I know where I want the stories to go in a loose sense, but the actual words just won't come. So this is basically me right now:

Photobucket

Oh well. On the bright side, I cut something like three inches off my hair yesterday. It's all cool and short and wavy now, which is actually really handy considering how goddamn hot it is outside, plus it temporarily cured the sense of boredom I was developing with my appearance.

Anyway, I also clapped eyes on the trailer for Breaking Dawn (part 1) just now.

Photobucket

I can't. I don't even have words for how cracktastic this movie looks. I might even actually go see it if I manage to get a free general movie ticket or something.

ETA: I just realized that, if you consider how his costars go by KStew and Rpattz, Kellan Lutz's name can be shortened to KLutz (as in klutz, a clumsy person). For some reason, I find this incredibly fucking hilarious.[/riveting tale, old chap]

And now back to trying to resurrect my poor muse. See my previous post for some Idiot!fic (and a link to other potentially interesting things).

Cheers.

P.S. - In the course of listening to Set Fire To The Rain - ADELE, I came across the following lyrics:

My hands, they were strong, but my knees were far too weak/
To stand in your arms without falling to your feet...

I feel like there's the potential for an amazing fic prompt in here somewhere, but I can't think of anything (see previous complaints re: dead muse). Anyone wanna take a shot at it?

Howdy doo, internets! Pause and marvel at the fact that I posted in less than a three day interval for once (oh God, I've been so awful at updating this journal /o\) This is a bit of a random odds & ends post again, so I'll just do this in list format:

THING THE FIRST: A meme!

1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload) 5 songs you love that begin with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

[livejournal.com profile] dianora77 gave me the letter "K".

Cut to prevent formatting issues and/or autoplay )

THING THE SECOND: I've successfully established that [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n isn't dead, so we might actually finish the Starsgard vampire AU within the next couple of weeks. Fingers crossed!

THING THE THIRD: I've been kicking around this idea for a tattoo, but I'm wavering because other people might find it unbelievably pathetic and fangirlish even though I quite like it.

Basically, I'm thinking of getting "Everyone's heart doesn't beat the same" tattooed between my shoulder blades in some sufficiently fancy and aesthetically pleasing script.

Yes, it's a line from American Idiot (City of the Damned, to be specific), but that line has totally fucking burned itself into my brain and it seems really pretty and quite true in my head, at least. Le Boyfriend says it sounds like a cool idea (and he would definitely not hesitate to tell me if he thought it was stupid) and I like the idea (and could see myself still liking it when I'm forty), but...Idk. Maybe I'm just being neurotic and insane again or something.

...

Hooooly crap, self, ramble more.
Photobucket

I officially christen the theme of this post as "Cool story, bro".

That's all I've got for now since my muse still isn't cooperating. Anyone interested in helping me whip this Tunny/Will/Extraordinary Girl fic into shape? On the other hand, I'm not sure bouncing ideas off of y'all would help; I know where I want the fic to go but the words just won't come, if that makes any sense. Who knows?

Random philosophical questions that have crossed my mind recently:

1) Okay, so we know that when a (closeted) gay guy goes out with a woman to try to look extra heterosexual, that woman is called a beard. What's the male equivalent? (Like, if a closeted gay woman goes out with a man to look extra straight). Is there a name for that?

2) When did Bon Iver suddenly become such a huge deal? I'd never even heard of them except for a tangential mention in some Stark interview (shut up, I know I'm a sad, pathetic fangirl for remembering that) and suddenly they're EVERYWHERE. Obviously, the hipsters are taking over.

3) Why is Charlie Sheen still a thing? Did he do something extra wacky and insane recently that I missed?

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] generation_kill hosted a themed recs post for crossovers and someone rec'ed the batfic!

Photobucket

This makes me absurdly happy, moreso than it probably should. Remember that I have a tiny, fragile ego when it comes to any sort of fanfic that I do anything for (either on my own or in a collaborative capacity), so people rec'ing anything I worked on sort of makes my week.

Finally, I'm composing a list of movies I need/want to see (and possibly review) this summer. So far, I've got...

Thor
Priest
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Hanna
Scream 4 (am going to have to Redbox/Netflix/pirate this, evidently)
X-Men: First Class (it's probably going to be hilariously awful, but I cannot resist the sexy siren song of James McAvoy)
Green Lantern (mostly because Le Boyfriend is going to drag me to see it whether I like it or not)
Captain America: The First Avenger (see above)
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark

Not to mention the other movie review posts I have that I'm supposed to do at some point (like 2012 *sigh*). Any other suggestions? Between my junior physical therapist duties and my summer classes, I'm going to be really, spectacularly bored this summer, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

And now back to desperately trying to unfuck my creative muse and waiting pathetically for January so The 2-2 can start and I can have an excuse to fangirl on a weekly basis. Ta!

So...um...Le Boyfriend and I finally got around to watching Legion last night (I know, I know, we need to get with the program). It was...interesting.

Of course, by interesting I mean it was one of the most cracktastically insane movies I've ever seen. And this, coming from me, is saying a great deal when you consider that one of my favorite movies is crack-y enough that it has a character saying this

Photobucket
The whole line is actually "Buster, if you want any singing outta me then you better haul out that bratwurst and spread some mustard on it!" because the other guy is trying to grill him for information, but I suppose it's even better out of context

without a trace of irony or sarcasm. I think the point where I well and truly lost it was when this grandmotherly little old lady started crawling on the ceiling. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. Honorable mention for "most hilariously WTF scene" goes to the world's wackiest ice cream man.

In summary: Good God, it's been a while since I ran across a movie that was so unintentionally hilarious. Not even Paul Bettany (and his amazing God-jitsu) was able to redeem it.

In other news, I've started contemplating a GK Dresden Files AU. I have three other fics going at this very moment (well, two and a half if you count the collaboration on the vamp!fic), I simply do not have the free time to take on another one right now. Plus I still haven't finished the series so, with my luck, I'd probably make some hideous canon error that wouldn't even fly in an AU. Damn if it isn't a tempting idea though *facepalm*

I've said it before and I'll say it again, internets; life is hard.

So, internets, in a concentrated effort to jog my poor flagging muse, I've been re-watching Generation Kill...I had some kinda jumbled thoughts about Disc 1 )

If my energy holds out (and my migraine wears off), I'll have at least Discs 2 and 3 up tomorrow, but ideally my two late True Blood reaction posts as well. Y'all would be amazed how much one's impressions of something can change the second (or third...or twelfth) time one sees them.

In the mean time, allow Ray-Ray to express how much I love y'all for putting up with my short-ass (read: nonexistent) attention span:

So, somehow, two days went by before I even realized I hadn't posted anything. Way to fail, self. But fear not, internets, I'm alive -- I just got distracted with trying to unfuck my sleeping patterns, I guess.

While I finish re-reading Dead in the Family (so I can put up a well-reasoned review post), have some fic recs. Well, what little there are these days, since everyone's either doing big bangs or the Combat Jack challenge:

Man of Action by [livejournal.com profile] hulubululu - Ray - In which Ray makes the fatal mistake of speculating about the dick size of someone who outranks him. Based on Skippy's List because, let's face it, Ray is probably a reincarnation of Skippy. Well, that or his evil twin. Bonus points for excellent Ray voice and for making me actually laugh out loud.

Singing 'Hallelujah' With The Fear In Your Heart by [livejournal.com profile] chemfishee - Brad/Ray - In which Ray crosses most of the country when Brad stops picking up the phone one day, and they both discover what the end of the world looks like. I liked this one for the vivid mental imagery and the dream-like but still believable take on the classic end-of-the-world scenario.

I'd write some myself, but my muse is still stuck. I know where I want my Starsgard fic to go, just not how to get it there. If I'm having trouble with something I already started, forget about pulling something out of thin air *headscreen*

Also, I finally finished A:TLA and I gotta say, Aang's solution was a creative (if unexpected) one. I hear a lot of fans didn't like it though, so this could just be me. Either way, I gotta give him points for getting the idea from an island-sized sealion/turtle...thing.

Side note: watching Nightmares and Daydreams at 5:00 in the morning wasn't my brightest idea. I literally did this more than once during the episode:

Photobucket

That episode is what happens when fic writers who work for T.V. stations decide to air every crack!fic they've ever written. Jesus.

Anyway, back to my to-do list now that I've reappeared back onto the internet.

Dear M. Night Shyamalan,

I'm already pissed off with you for the race/culture!fail that you're perpetrating against Avatar: The Last Airbender. But now, because Le Boyfriend has gotten me started on watching the actual cartoons, I hate you for a few more reasons:

1) Sokka is supposed to be funny. You will never know just how irrationally angry it makes me that you appear to have sucked all the humor out of my favorite character (so far). I get that some of Sokka's gags would be hard to translate into live action acting, but you could salvage some of it if you'd cast someone who can...I don't know...actually do comedy.

Also, there's suspension of disbelief and then there's pretending that Jackson Rathbone can act looks anything close to fifteen years old. I feel vaguely insulted, and I watch a show where two guys who are almost thirty pretend to be sixteen, so that's saying a lot.

2) Aang isn't exactly all srs bznss either -- Avatar or not, HE'S TWELVE. I give you serious side-eye for forgetting that, especially considering that you have children.

3) If you get Momo wrong, I may be forced to hunt you down and beat you to death with a box set of the series. (Ditto re: Bumi, but that's another threat for another day)

4) Why did you take away Katara's hair loops and, as far as I can tell, her braid? I saw some of the other people in her tribe wearing Nicola's look, but it just bugs me and I can't quite put my finger on why.

Finally, I don't get why you felt the need to do a ~dark and edgy~ take on a children's show (that you signed on for because of your children in the first place). I think that's what annoys me most of all -- that you've completely lost sight of your original purpose because you got caught up in egomaniacal douchebaggery.

Piss off (and expect more letters as I watch more of the show),
[livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies

-------

So yeah, as the letter suggests, I've started watching the Avatar cartoons (because of Le Boyfriend). I LOVE THEM (and am retroactively kicking myself for not getting into them sooner). I think I'll be staying out of the fandom though, because I understand that they're more than a little bit crazy (and I've had my fill of fandom crazy for about the next six months).

Meanwhile, I'm still trying to make myself catch up on all the stuff I said I'd post (I haven't forgotten, the list even has its own sticky note!) -- I'm so sorry I keep getting sidetracked. In particular, I'm trying desperately to revive my muse because I miss my Starsgard fic ;__; Maybe watching True Blood with Le Boyfriend tonight will jog my muse a bit.

It really doesn't help that, in the wake of the whole GK drama, I've developed a rather worrisome addiction to reading [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets. Seriously, y'all, it's like a sickness.

OhGodpleasesendhelp

Finally, just so I'm not boring my poor flist to death with my sad, nonexistent life, have a meme that I gacked from [livejournal.com profile] spirited_lizard:

2. Trust with the keys to my car:
3. Put thumbtacks on their chair:

5. Pack up and leave if he/she moved next door:
6. Vote for as president:
7. Pick as my partner in a buddy movie:
8. Pair up:
9. Vote off the island and into a volcano:
10. Wheedle into fixing my MP3 player:

So, internets, I got a very interesting email earlier (and some poking around on my flist confirms it). Apparently, during an appearance on Rosie O'Donnell (in which even Rosie fangirled all over him), Stark announced that he's engaged.

All together now: awwwwwww (the story of how he popped the question was pretty funny too)

So I think a toast is in order:
Photobucket
The real ASkars is probably off somewhere crying very manly tears of blood, who wants to "console" him?

Sláinte to the happy couple (which includes quite possibly the luckiest woman of all time). Nice to hear that at least someone's life is going right (I've been a bit depressed lately, can't you tell?)

In other news, my muse is still stuck. Still *headscreen* I can come up with some good prompts, but I can't for the life of me seem to bring anything out of them that doesn't sound horribly forced (what little I can bring out at all, anyway). Which is partly why I've been particularly depressed lately. It figures that I can't crank out fics fast enough when I'm burning the proverbial candle at both ends in real life but, once I actually have the time? Nada. Zip. Bupkiss. I get the mocking blinking cursor on the empty MS Word document.

Argh. I need some cheering up -- anyone want to suggest a movie for a review post? Hilariously bad or otherwise (provided we stay away from House of 1,000 Corpses levels of bad). It's for a good cause *Puss-In-Boots eyes*

ETA: So I just got my grades and I actually did better than I thought

Group Communication Principles: A
U.S. History After 1877: A

I was fairly certain I made a C in Biomechanics (my final felt like a disaster, but apparently I was wrong). Yay me?

Howdy, internets. Sorry I didn't post earlier, but I've been feeling sort of physically and emotionally crummy all day so I couldn't really gather any remotely entertaining thoughts until just now. Basically, I spent the whole day lounging around watching OZ and I realized it'd been a while since I'd posted anything about my progress on the series.

A jumble of thoughts on all of Season 4 and most of Season 5, I has them... )

I may add more as more occurs to me, but that's the bulk of my thoughts for the moment.

Meanwhile, it's currently raining like a bastard (again) complete with lots of thunder and lightning (again) and it totally spawned an excellent prompt but I can't seem to make it go anywhere. It started out Starsgard in my head but can totally be adapted to any GK pairing that tickles anyone's fancy if anyone wants a prompt. Me, on the other hand...

Photobucket

I hate my brain sometimes, y'all -_-

Finally, happy (actual) birthday to [livejournal.com profile] meeks00! I send you hugs from JGroff

and was pleased to see that you seem to have had an awesome day.
