1) Sign #527 that I'm a raging medicine nerd: I actually yelled at 3rd Rock From The Sun for mixing up supine (lying on your back) and prone (lying on your stomach). I'm willing to concede the difference between an embolism and an edema (I'm looking at you, House M.D.) as me splitting hairs, but supine vs. prone isn't THAT hard to fact check.

...or I'm still just a major nerd. MOVING ON.

2) Dear upstairs neighbors,

When your shitty techno is loud enough that I can still hear the bass even with my (incredibly loud) headphones on, it might be time to consider toning it down a notch. I'm all for loud music, don't get me wrong, but good God show some sense, or at least basic survival instincts.

Just sayin',

3) A little ASkars action because it's been forever since he graced a post with his presence )

Ooooh-wee....
Photobucket

God, he cleans up so nicely.

4) And, in the spirit of saving the best for last, I come bearing a magic trick. Have any of you ever seen a fic rise from the dead? Well, first a little flick of the "magical" gasoline...

Photobucket

And presto! You have now :D Anyone remember this?

Title: Picking Up The Pieces (Part 9)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Summary: In which the boys argue, and Alex sees an entirely unexpected side of Stark. Some things just have to be said, but don't worry, it's not for nothing.
Author's Note: Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] pjvilar for helping to give this part some direction, and to all those who patiently listened to me whine and let me bounce ideas off them. Thanks, y'all <3

When Stark gets back, he finds Alex nursing a cup of coffee in the kitchen... )

Side note: I went back and cleaned up the HTML in the previous chapters (linked them to each other, put in summaries, etc. etc.), so it should be easier to go back and reread now for anyone who wishes to do so.

Five months has to be some kind of record in terms of fic comas, but hey, at least I fixed it! Stay tuned for more vampire AU at some point soon, plus some other goodies I have in mind. In the mean time, adorkable dancing!Theo thanks you for your time:

P.S. - Also, have one of the most adorable Stark interviews I've ever read. It's really old, but good God, it's worth it *_______*

P.P.S. - Oh Yellowcard, I don't care if liking you serves as conclusive proof that I'm stuck in 2004, this is just beautiful. My inner fifteen year old is pleased to see y'all back on the music scene again <3

So I heard that Mark Zuckerberg successfully trademarked the word "face".

Yes, seriously.

Photobucket

Granted, it's in a telecommunications capacity (no FaceSpace chatrooms or anything like that), but still. Really, USPO? Was it that slow of a day at the office? I can't even-- just no. Bad USPO, no biscuit.

In the mean time, does anyone (of the...like...five people that were probably following it) remember a certain Starsgard fic that has been comatose for quite sometime (including a Batfic-induced hiatus)?

Well, [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n sort of kicked my ass into finally writing some more.

Title: Picking Up The Pieces (Part 8)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Summary: In which Stark realizes he's quite out of his depth, which leads to consulting an old friend for help.
Usual disclaimer/boilerplate that I keep forgetting: This is all a work of fiction that never happened. It's the product of my overactive imagination, please don't sue, etc. etc. etc.

The question of what Stark is supposed to do now turns out to be an extremely good one... )

It's been so long since I posted anything for this that I recommend any interested parties go back and at least read the previous part as a refresher. As for this? Enjoy, and feel free to comment/flail as usual.

Well, internets, today has been yet another mixed bag. I spent a tidy chunk of the day wrestling with Microsoft Excel (for my Exercise Physiology lab) and then, after some inspiration by the wonderful and amazing [livejournal.com profile] jean_iris, I managed to write some more of my Starsgard fic that had been comatose for four(ish) months before now. Since it's been so long, anyone who still actually remembers/follows it should re-read some here (tags are amazingly helpful sometimes).

Title: Picking Up The Pieces (Part 7)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Summary: In which Stark thinks too much and practically frets himself into an ulcer, and Alex surprises us all.
Usual disclaimer/boilerplate that I keep forgetting: This is all a work of fiction that never happened. It's the product of my overactive imagination, please don't sue, etc. etc. etc.

Generally speaking, Stark feels like a colossal idiot for thinking that anything about this clusterfuck would be easy... )

It's been a while (to put it mildly) so I know I'm a bit rusty and many revisions will probably ensue, but please be gentle in the mean time.

Me, I'll just be over here celebrating the fact that my muse isn't dead.

It even kind of balances out the schoolwork-related aggravations.

So, internets, I have a bit of a surprise for y'all (or, at least, the GK fangirls among you).

More Starsgard fic! My muse (which, it turns out, was dead for a little over a month) came back last night so I added about 700 words to Picking Up the Pieces. Excuse me while I boogaloo!

Photobucket

*ahem* Anyway.

Title: Picking Up The Pieces (Part 6)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Summary: In which Stark uses a period of insomnia to ponder, plan, and pine (just a little).
Usual disclaimer/boilerplate that I keep forgetting: This is all a work of fiction that never happened. It's the product of my overactive imagination, please don't sue, etc. etc. etc.

When he really thinks about it, Stark realizes that he might have something of an impulse control problem... )

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] meeks00, [livejournal.com profile] abrokencompass, and everyone else who let me bounce ideas off them or otherwise helped me out. As usual, please be gentle in any/all concrit -- it's been a while and I'm aware I'm a bit rusty.

Finally, I've been seeing this meme all over my flist and only just actually looked at it today and it seemed rather fun so I decided to try it:

MY THREAD HERE

I'm both curious and scared to see what y'all will come up with (my primary fandoms at the moment are Generation Kill, True Blood, and Glee if anyone is at a loss for ideas -- OZ also has high potential for hilarious love letters).

Oh internets, I love when my muse comes back (and mine did with a vengeance, considering how rarely I manage 1000+ word-long installments). Here is, as I've been promising for ages now, more of my fic!

Title: Picking Up The Pieces (Part 5)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Summary: In which Alex learns more about Stark -- and a thing or two about himself.
Usual disclaimer/boilerplate that I keep forgetting: This is all a work of fiction that never happened. It's the product of my overactive imagination, please don't sue, etc. etc. etc.

Some time later, Alex wakes up on Stark’s couch with a pounding headache and an impressive crick in his neck... )

As usual, be gentle in your concrit. Also, join me in praying that the muse sticks around for a while this time.

That's all I've got for now, except for this fiendishly addicting website that is probably going to bring about the downfall of my college career. DAMN YOU WALDO.

Internets, is it a really sad sign of what my life has become if I get a weird streak of "Worship me for I am a domestic goddess"-like joy out of cleaning my kitchen? 'cause I know I have O.C.D. and all its crazy trappings, but it still comes across as pretty damn sad. Truly, mine is an exhilarating life.

Anyway, first some old business:

1) Clothes make the man, but tattoos make the sex god...

2) Ye Olde Expanded Lyrics Challenge (6 songs still unidentified)

And, new business-wise, as I've been promising for what feels like weeks now, more fic!

Title: Picking Up The Pieces (Part 4)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Summary: In which Stark reveals previously hidden mother hen tendencies, and Alex learns who his real friends are (or starts to, anyway).
Usual disclaimer/boilerplate that I keep forgetting: This is all a work of fiction that never happened. It's the product of my overactive imagination, please don't sue, etc. etc. etc.

After Alex disappears from view, Stark stares after him for a while... )

As usual, please be gentle in your concrit -- I've been in a bit of a creative slump lately so I know this might not be up to my usual standards.

Also, I should have that Shiver (or, as its original title goes, "Eskalofrío") review post up tomorrow or the day after that. College is valiantly trying to take over my life again, so it'll be tricky, but it should be doable.

P.S. - Dear LiveJournal,

First, you crawl along at a snail's pace as you struggle to (not always successfully) load pages -- not to mention the absurdly slow comment notifications. Then you cocktease me by working perfectly for a while. Why must you play with my emotions this way, LiveJournal? We've had a fairly harmonious relationship for the last six years or so, I'd be very sad if that had to change. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure my laptop is about to have a nervous breakdown from how often I've been shouting at it because of this. Please, think of Poindexter*.

Waiting for you to get your shit together,

Internets, I just realized I won't be able to make it to the GK re-watch this week. Why, you ask? Because the mandatory shift I have to cover at that stupid track meet is from 4:00-closing (~7:30).

I hate my life.

HERP DERP, I am such a colossal idiot: I forgot all about Midnight Madness (aka the second re-watch). Way to fail, self. [livejournal.com profile] amy_thrace821 (or anyone who knows), is there a commentary part for that too?

In any case, everything is now copacetic but, so I feel a little bit less failtastic, have some more of my Starsgard fic!

Title: Picking Up The Pieces (Part 3)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Summary: In which Stark tries to reach out and Alex shies away, and each learns something about the other in the process.

For reasons Stark can’t quite explain, he feels incredibly nervous.... )

Finally, I have a Starsgard prompt or two in mind on account of talking with [livejournal.com profile] liketheroad. Anyone want 'em? I posted them in [livejournal.com profile] queeniegalore's GK kink meme (page 4), but these are totally free to any good home :D

Internets, I just Google Image searched The Pixel Bag (for my fic) and the third picture on the VERY FIRST PAGE was one of ASkars. I think it's more famous than we previously gave it credit for, y'all *gigglesnort*

Speaking of the fic (the nervous breakdown one), I'm not sure why, but this one feels really important to me (I've even made a playlist to keep myself in the right mood -- SHUT UP I KNOW THAT'S REALLY SAD I CAN FEEL YOUR JUDGMENT >_<). Maybe because it's coming from a place I can really relate to? Allow me to explain:

Cut for boring rambly personal crap... )

So yeah, maybe it's just 'cause it's more personal this time. It also might have something to do with why messed up!ASkars has been unusually easy to write.

Anyway! On a lighter note, I wanted to thank y'all for reassuring me that I'm not being too creepy and insane (the bad kind) in my fangirling. I promise that it's all meant in good fun/humor and general reveling in how awesome the actors/people are. I'm working on this fic as much as possible so I can post some more of it soon as an additional thank-you. Please continue being awesome, flist :)

Edit to add: Alrighty, I'm stuck again so I'll just give y'all what I've added since the last part:

Title: Picking Up The Pieces (Part 2)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Summary: In which Stark hopes against hope and it actually pays off.

As he leaves for rehearsal the next day, Stark resolves to walk home the same way as before and talk to the homeless man with the colorful bag... )

Howdy, internets. Since not much is going on in my life right now, I come bearing a WIP that, to me, is shaping up to be pretty entertaining. Hopefully, y'all will think so too:

Title: Picking Up The Pieces (Part 1/?)
Author(s): [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Pairing: Stark Sands/Alexander Skarsgård
Rating: PG (so far)
Spoilers/Warnings: Extremely mild language (so far)
Summary: When tragedy shatters Alex’s life, Stark takes it upon himself to help Alex pick up the pieces.
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction and never happened.
Author’s note: Written for [livejournal.com profile] sexytrini, who read my drabble about Alex rescuing a drunk Stark and decided that Alex needed some rescuing of his own.

A loud crash of thunder splits the night as Alex trudges wearily into his apartment… )

That's what I've got so far. Thanks for giving me such interesting prompts, guys, keep 'em coming! :)
