Welp, it's happening -- I'm starting to feel burned out, just like I do every. Fucking. Semester. It only happened after five-ish weeks though, which is probably some sort of record for me. Maybe it's the senioritis, or the fact that I actually have a job this semester. On the bright side, I did get to spend this weekend catching up on sleep....mmmmm, tasty, tasty silver lining.

Anyway, THINGS!

THING THE FIRST: [livejournal.com profile] we_pimpin is hosting a Rocktober 'kickstart the fandom' thingy, which fills me with indescribable glee because I MISS THIS FUCKING FANDOM and was afraid it was starting to really die on me. I encourage one and all (including lurkers) to at least take a look, even if it's to post a gif somewhere or something.

THING THE SECOND: So I just saw this song preview for Glee tomorrow night ...(cut for spoilers, I guess) )

THING THE THIRD: Be careful using hand sanitizer, especially if you have a kitten who's rather fond of turning pointy at random intervals. I just discovered exactly how many bajillion cat scratches really are on my hands and DEAR GOD IT BURNS LIKE HELLFIRE. I pretty much made this face:

THING THE FOURTH: When I wasn't catching up on sleep during this weekend, I spent some time re-watching Season 1 of True Blood and just...damn, show, what happened? You started off so promising, and now I pretty much just watch you for ASkars and the sheer crack-tastic insanity factor. Someone needs to brain Alan Ball upside the head with one of the SVM books.

THING THE LAST: I'm getting myself an iPhone in less than a week. I know y'all are probably looking at me like "Who gives a shit?" and I'll tell you, I do because I AM MOTHERFUCKING EXCITE.

Also, durndleflep. That is all.

Oof, sometimes I really suck at updating this thing. Maybe I need to find myself another thirty-day writing meme.

Just dropping in mostly to relay a hilarious GK fangirl moment I had yesterday: Le Boyfriend's mother's birthday was yesterday, so we went out with his family to this Brazillian steakhouse (complete with Portuguese name and words on the menu). I may or may not have spent embarrassing portions of the night quoting Baptista lines to myself....*ahem*

Anyway, have a couple of my favorite shipping related gifs. Get your slash goggles on tight, folks )

Random post is random, but at least it serves to prove I'm alive. How are y'all?

I forgot to mention, internets, that the day before yesterday (aka part of why I was up at 5:00 in the morning during my last post) was an interesting one for a number of reasons.

First of all, I wound up having this text conversation with Le Sibling, who was at his girlfriend's sister's wedding in L.A.:

(972) - Wedding crazy. Wore suit, every1 assumed I wz wedding planner, so I gave orders.
(713) - LOL, nice.
(972) - At 1 point, caterers walked past [girlfriend]'s parents 2 ask me a question. Mission status: Wedding Accomplished.
(713) - Lol, like a boss

Sometimes I fucking love my family.

After that, I had lunch with two of my RL friends and wound up getting both of them hooked on GK and am slowly turning one of them into an American Idiot fanboy.

I do believe this makes me "Da Man".

Anyway, meme! (SOCLOSETOBEINGDONE)

Day Twenty-Seven: Where is your favorite place to write, and do you write by hand or on the computer?

90% of my writing is done on my laptop (*hugs Poindexter*), I only write by hand (in a spiral notebook) if I'm going to be spending a lot of time somewhere where I either can't bring my laptop or have no internet connection to speak of. With that in mind, I'm not sure I really have a favorite place to write -- I guess it'd have to be sitting in bed (bom-chicka-wow-wow?)

And finally, I have at last buckled under the peer pressure (and the shiny, shiny lure of stalking my favorite celebrities) and gotten myself a Twitter (Raptor Jesus help us all). I'm @AlleyCat_Allie, feel free to add me, just PLEASE remind me who you are so I don't have a big giant paranoid freak out about it. I'm already twitchy and paranoid about this frightening newfangled thing as it is.

Internets, do any of you ever have one of those moments where recognizing someone in a movie makes you feel like a gigantic nerd?

Well, I had one of those just now...(with screen caps!) )

Okay, 'fess up, how many of you recognized him from the very first screen cap? Go on, I won't judge, I've had far too many WAY fangirlier moments than this to be able to judge without sounding like a total hypocrite.

The moral of this post? FANDOM IS EVERYWHERE, resistance is futile.

Lastly, more meme!

Day Twenty-Six: What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to research for a fic?

That would be a tie between transfemoral prosthetic legs and exactly how much force it takes to crush a human windpipe (alongside how much force a mostly average adult male can generate in a punch). Both topics were being researched for the same fic, incidentally XD

And now, back to watching movies in the middle of the night because I can't make my brain shut up. Ta!

First, to any and all of my flisters out in Canadialand who were at Bluesfest during the storm, I sincerely hope none of y'all were squished by falling stages or otherwise injured *hugs*

In other news, I was sitting here contemplating the delightfully passive-aggressive formatting of the ETA in this FFR post and got to thinking about The Great Ship Wars of Yore.

WAIT! COME BACK! I'm not a crazy H/Hr or R/Hr shipper, that's not what this is about!

What I was going to say was that I admit I was only watching the batshittery go down from the very outermost periphery of it all (I was a gangly, insignificant fangirl of thirteen or so back then), so I never heard about any death threats or anything. Was this an actual thing? Can someone confirm this? I was hiding in a quiet little niche of Harry/Draco shippers, so I may as well have been in Amish country at the time.

Also, eine kleine light reading for anyone who wants to see just how crazy some of this shit really got

I'll just be over here contemplating the irony of the fact that the most peaceful/wank-free fandom I've ever been a part of is about WAR. Seriously.

Finally, the thirty day writing meme continues (and is almost done!)

Day Twenty-Five: Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?

I do indeed listen to music when writing! I even make playlists for certain fics if I'm having an extra hard time setting the scene (I believe the GK/AI crossover and one of my Starsgard fics have their own playlists, but there could be more that I'm forgetting).

Also, gif!

P.S. - Les Neighbors are making tentative plans to FINALLY catch the feral mama cat and kittens living out of their garage within the next couple of days. If this happens, y'all can bet I will post about four tons of pictures, because the kittens are right around that age/size that I call the "paper towel/toilet paper commercial stage"

P.P.S. - God, I need to catch up on True Blood, all these gifs on my flist of ASkars being adorkable are killing me *_____*
