Howdy doo, internets. Yes, I'm alive, I've just been in a rather spectacular brain chemistry slump lately. I've barely gotten out of bed over the last three days or so, and I spent a distressing amount of all that time in bed absolutely dead to the world.

My last slump lasted for two and a half months. I hope this one is a bit shorter (assuming it's not an extension of the last one), because I really don't have the spoons to deal with calling my shrink to tell him about this -- and to deal with the ensuing shitstorm with my nearest and dearest.

...Crikey if Stark's singing doesn't help though *wistful sigh*

But enough whining, on to my next piece of news; [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle and I kinda sorta finished Hourglass (that fic we wrote for [livejournal.com profile] pjvilar ). It's pretty good, if the comments so far are anything to go by.

Title: Hourglass
Rating: NC-17
Author(s): [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle and [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Pairing/Characters: Brad/Nate; ensemble, OFC, OMC.
Word Count: 15,650 SEE?! EVERY FIC I TOUCH TURNS INTO A BEHEMOTH
Warnings/Spoilers: Warnings for drug abuse, suicide, language, racial/sexist slurs, supernatural themes; Spoilers for mentions of various episodes of Generation Kill, however this is wildly AU!fic. We've also taken some vast liberties in using some Spanish terms and referring to Islam and Native American spirituality, so while our research skills are generally kick-ass, we are neither Spanish, Islamic or Native American. Please let us know if there are any glaring, cringe-inducing errors.
Disclaimer: Based on the HBO mini-series 'Generation Kill', and the characters portrayed by the actors. Not based on real events, this didn't happen. No offense intended, not ours, no profit here - don't sue.
A.N.: Out of a prompt from [livejournal.com profile] pjvilar at [livejournal.com profile] generation_kill's 96: A Generation Kill Halloween Fic Fest, who wanted 'Nate makes a deal with the devil'. Beta-read by authors.

Summary: Nate never considered how much time they wasted fighting for things that didn't matter until his time started running out.

Master post this-a-way

...ugh, I don't think I'll ever stop seeing formatting as a giant pain in the ass. Oh well, hope y'all like the fic, that's pretty much all I've got for now. I hope all is well out there in internet land <3

Oh lord, woman, you know what the sight of Stark with a gun does to me. THINGS. You def. just made my work day considerably less boring *___*

Also, Esper being all adorkacute pretty much made my day. God I want to smish his stupid adorable face <3

(P.S. - I cracked up at the fainting goats gif and got a weird look from one of my misc. coworkers. Thanks for helping me remind them I'm batshit insane)

(P.P.S. - That bees gif is NOT FUNNY because our office currently has a wasp problem #fml #ihatenature)

Hiii, how are you doing today? *cuddles*

No gifs to offer but you and [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle can expect a flaily reaction email to Hourglass the minute I'm done with it. Eye surgery getting in the way of reading fic and checking LJ, that is just not on.

Hello ^^ I'm new to this fandom and I just came across some recs about Hourglass. Is it possible to still read this fic somewhere?

[identity profile] emerald-skies.livejournal.com 2017-01-08 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Howdy! The good news is that I have a not broken link here (http://generation-kill.livejournal.com/657215.html?thread=8862783#t8862783), but the bad news is that for some reason part 3 of the story has been deleted (I can't for the life of me remember why) and I can't find the file on my computer to fill in the gap. I'll try to get in touch with Lou (my co-author) to see if she has it by some crazy miracle but, if not, I'm sorry to stick you with an incomplete story :( I hope you like what there is, at least, and am tickled pink that you were intrigued enough to track it down <3

Thank you for the replay and the link :) Even if it's not completed *sigh* Just my luck to find recs to great stories that were deleted some time ago.
Anyway I rally like this fic, so if there is a chance to read a full story that's great. If not, could you tell me how it ended?

Still waiting to hear back from Lou, but from what I remember they meet up with Poke's abuelo and explain things and there's a completely badass scene in a shack out in the desert where Poke's abuelo does some hoodoo with a fire and Brad winds up having a battle of wills/spirit with Makra to make her give Nate up (it's an exorcism of sorts, basically). I believe it all works out in the end and Brad and Nate limp off into the sunset together, if I recall correctly (because I'm a sap for happy endings). I'll be sure to let you know if Lou hits me back with the full piece though, I've been in your exact position before and I know how much it sucks.

Any time, and thanks for reading <3
