Soooo yeah, Le Boyfriend and I saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 together at midnight last night (er...this morning). It was pretty intense, honestly, and there was the usual requisite couple of people who showed up in interesting costumes, including a guy in the row in front of us who was in PERFECT Voldemort costume (right down to a bald cap glued against his skin) and a girl waiting to claim her tickets in a full-body Snitch outfit (gold unitard, wings, the works).

ANYWAY, I promised a reaction post, so here we go

Things that made me laugh:

- When Harry blasts the column for no apparent reason during the final duel, Le Boyfriend and I both thought of that part in GK about killing a lot of really evil sand :P The couple that geeks out together...
- "I've always wanted to do that spell"
- Neville consulting Seamus for his "particular knack for pyrotechnics"
- Le Boyfriend (during the limbo scene): It's Dumbledore the White!
- Dear Ralph Fiennes,

You can be scary as hell when you set your mind to it, but jsyk, the way you say Avada Kedavra totally spoils the effect. It made Le Boyfriend and me sporfle every time you did it.

Just sayin'.

"Zoinks!"/WTF/*facepalm* moments:

- Someone in our audience yelled "GET SOME!" when Ron and Hermione made out right after destroying Hufflepuff's cup. Seriously. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same charming individual who yelled "I SAW TONGUE!" when Cho kissed Harry a few movies ago.
- When Voldemort used the trailing bits of his robe to trip Harry up in the final duel...

Me: I've heard enough about hentai to know where this is going...
Le Boyfriend: I didn't know Voldemort was into that

Things that made me either straight-up cry or at least get a bit misty-eyed:

- When they showed Remus and Tonks together for the last time ;___;
- When the credits rolled
- Snape/Lily in general (what can I say? I'm a hopeless romantic)

Things that made me cheer/squee:

- "Not my daughter, you bitch!"
- The part that will be forever known as Neville's Crowning Moment of Awesome
- When Voldemort basically disintegrated (even though that was sort of WTF-ish in its own right)
- The beautiful Drarry shippy-ness of the whole Fiendfyre scene :D (Le Boyfriend saw me grinning like a loon and was like "Not a damn word"
- McGonagall rallying all the stone statues to defend Hogwarts -- that was some fucking inspiring shit
- McGonagall throwing down with Snape in the Great Hall

Misc. comments:

- I thought the epilogue was unnecessary in the book, and it was STILL unnecessary in the movie! I maintain the whole point of it was to punish Draco for his moderate evil with moderate baldness([/butthurt Drarry shipper moment])
- This might have just been me, but I thought the whole scene with the Grey Lady was cool as hell
- Did anyone else think Snape's memories looked like something Tim Burton would come up with?
- Ollivander was also Professor Broom in Hellboy -- I don't know why, but this pleases and delights me

This is a fairly skeletal reaction post, I'll probably add more things as they occur to me so feel free to check back from time to time or, if anyone feels so inclined, share your own noteworthy moments!

Finally, for anyone that's still reading this post by this point, here's the next part of the thirty day writing meme:

Day Twenty-Two: Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?

Um...nope. I'd like to, for sure, but I never seem to have a substantial plot bunny at the time that these things go down. Then there's also the fact that I'm horribly insecure about my shorter works (if you can call them that) even at the best of times, and also the lingering paranoia that my muse would crap out on me THE MOMENT I finished signing up for the fucking thing. Like I said in some post before; my neuroses, they are many.
