You guys, I was catching up on Hart of Dixie last night and, by grave misfortune, I wound up watching this part at five in the morning and almost suffocated from trying to laugh quietly.

I desperately need gifs of the first 35 seconds of this video in my life. DESPERATELY. )

It brightened my day and keeps brightening my day, which is important because my days are in thundering need of some serious brightening lately. It's high-larious and also treats me to the delectable view of Scott Porter's upper body practically Hulking out of his suit jacket.

Also I would sell at least two limbs to see Stark do this. I'm just saying.

1) I'm basically the best friend ever. Why, you ask? Well, Drake is coming to my uni to do a concert and I used my student discount/priority powers to snag two floor seats for a RL friend of mine (17th row which, considering the wait and the size of the venue, is pretty damn good). These seats cost me almost $100 WITH A DISCOUNT )

I think it's safe to say I pretty much own her forever, y/y?

2) So I started my internship at a nearby university (not mine) PT clinic yesterday. I got to meet an interesting cast of characters, but the most notable in my eyes was this lady who had advanced diabetes (one of her reasons for coming was related weakness in hands/feet) and handed us a FOUR PAGE LIST of the medications she was currently taking. My supervisor later said there were twenty three of them.

Photobucket

Now, this lady had three or four different doctors, but WHO THE FUCK TAKES TWENTY THREE DIFFERENT MEDICATIONS?! It's only by the grace of Raptor Jesus and 5+ years of clinical experience that I didn't just look at her and say "Christ, lady, no wonder you say you feel like shit."

3) Due to some unexpected shifting in my otherwise-hellishly busy schedule, I discovered yesterday that I now get Fridays off every week for the rest of this semester. No class, no job, no internship, bupkis. What does this mean, you ask?

IT MEANS I GET TO INTERNET MORE, THAT'S WHAT \o/

Photobucket

Aaaand that's it. Clearly my life is fascinating. Stay tuned for a reaction post to the Glee ep "Yes/No" and THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

P.S. - I keep having to make a conscious effort to spell "feelings" with an s instead of a z when talking to people who aren't [livejournal.com profile] pau494 or [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle. I think this is definitely a sign I need to get off Twitter and stop stalking Esper -- well, that and the fact that I keep using hashtag jokes in non-Twitter spaces.

Dude, I was noodling around on my iPhone with Law & Order on in the background and I suddenly realized one of the voices sounded familiar. So I looked up and it was PJ. As in PJ Ransone.

Photobucket

Yeah, holy shit. Unfortunately, he was playing a whiny bitch instead of a total boss like Ray, but it was still a definite O_o moment. I think that makes the third GK alum I've seen on L&O (the other two being Patterson and Godfather).

I have three things to say about it:

1) There are probably laws against the things I wanted to do to Chris Hemsworth and his glorious lickable abs. This was me during that whole shirtless scene:

2) Surprise Skarsdad! (o hai there Stellan)

3) WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED THAT GILDEROY LOCKHART DIRECTED THIS MOVIE?!

That is all. I now return you to your regularly scheduled internetting.

P.S. - See the previous post for slightly more coherence and slightly less inappropriate lusting after Chris Hemsworth.

So, assuming various official Twitters and news outlets are correct, it appears Osama bin Laden is dead. Like, really dead.

The implications are...staggering. I wonder what, if anything, this means for military strategy in the Middle East? (ETA: Also, watching the reactions to this on FB and whatnot is just fascinating)

So, um, I just came across a couple of pictures over at [livejournal.com profile] stark_daily from American Idiot's closing night that I wanted to discuss and flail over, because it's me.

1) A miracle has occurred! )

2) Perhaps someone could clarify this one for me... )

1) Sign #527 that I'm a raging medicine nerd: I actually yelled at 3rd Rock From The Sun for mixing up supine (lying on your back) and prone (lying on your stomach). I'm willing to concede the difference between an embolism and an edema (I'm looking at you, House M.D.) as me splitting hairs, but supine vs. prone isn't THAT hard to fact check.

...or I'm still just a major nerd. MOVING ON.

2) Dear upstairs neighbors,

When your shitty techno is loud enough that I can still hear the bass even with my (incredibly loud) headphones on, it might be time to consider toning it down a notch. I'm all for loud music, don't get me wrong, but good God show some sense, or at least basic survival instincts.

Just sayin',

4) And, in the spirit of saving the best for last, I come bearing a magic trick. Have any of you ever seen a fic rise from the dead? Well, first a little flick of the "magical" gasoline...

And presto! You have now :D Anyone remember this?

Title: Picking Up The Pieces (Part 9)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Summary: In which the boys argue, and Alex sees an entirely unexpected side of Stark. Some things just have to be said, but don't worry, it's not for nothing.
Author's Note: Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] pjvilar for helping to give this part some direction, and to all those who patiently listened to me whine and let me bounce ideas off them. Thanks, y'all <3

When Stark gets back, he finds Alex nursing a cup of coffee in the kitchen... )

Side note: I went back and cleaned up the HTML in the previous chapters (linked them to each other, put in summaries, etc. etc.), so it should be easier to go back and reread now for anyone who wishes to do so.

Five months has to be some kind of record in terms of fic comas, but hey, at least I fixed it! Stay tuned for more vampire AU at some point soon, plus some other goodies I have in mind. In the mean time, adorkable dancing!Theo thanks you for your time:

Howdy doo, internets, just dropping in to do a quick meme that I stole from at least two different people on my flist (for now, we'll blame [livejournal.com profile] muthine since hers was the one I saw the most recently):

My freakishly huge, unstylish bag )

Aaaand The contents of my freakishly huge, unstylish bag (with handy dandy labels) )

I also wanted to get in a brief gloat about my grades, since I just figured out what they are right now (mid-semester).

Abnormal Psych: 98

Behavioral Dynamics of Sport and Exercise: 94

Undergraduate Research Methods: 92 (this one was a shock, I thought I was fucked considering all the TONS AND TONS OF MATH that goes on in this class)

Intro. to Sociology: 86

The Sociology grade would be higher if I hadn't made a stupid mistake on the test (we're allowed to hand in a comment sheet if we think the prof wrote a bad question for the chance to get credit back -- I forgot and wrote the comments on the test itself, which we wound up being allowed to take with us). Otherwise? Definite cause to celebrate (by procrastinating on my assignments for this week and finishing the first part of the crossover fic).

THAT IS ALL. See my previous post for a lulzy story of some jackass's failed attempt to bootleg American Idiot.

I have been doing research -- including but not limited to pestering the crap out of [livejournal.com profile] jean_iris -- for various aspects of my GK/AI crossover fic for the last four and a half hours. FOUR AND A HALF HOURS (because I'm going to get Tunny's pre-combat experience right if it kills me, God damn it).

Photobucket

This would all be so much simpler if I wasn't such an unbelievable raging nerd all kinds of nitpicky and insane and so in love with the source material that I'm going to these lengths to do right by it. Urgh.

In RL news, my adviser informed me yesterday that I have a shot at graduating in four years after all (in spite of all the fuckery with the university athletic training department) AND at getting an academically relevant job right when I get out. Pretty sweet, no?

Welp, I now know what -2 ºF feels like. Tomorrow is also going to make the second day in a row of canceled classes, so I'm that much more pleased with this development.

Other than that, I got nothin'. Party on, internets (and stay warm or, in the case of any Queenslanders out there, stay dry). Me, I'll just be sitting in Le Flat pretty much like this:

HOLY SHIT.

HOLY SHIT.

MY COUSIN* KNOWS STARK MOTHERFUCKING SANDS. LIKE, ACTUALLY KNOWS HIM.

How I found this out:

I was chatting with her at Christmas dinner (part 2) and she asked me about the things I did in New York. So I was telling her about American Idiot...

Awesomest cousin ever: Oh, I have a friend from USC who's in that.
Me: ...you don't say. Who?
ACE: His name is Stark, Stark Sands
My brain/face/everything: SYSTEM MOTHERFUCKING FAILURE.
Photobucket

So I explained how I'd been there to see him and actually met him and after the usual "He's cute, isn't he? *knowing grin*", she explained that he'd been two years ahead of her and lived in the frat house two houses down from her sorority (or something like that, I was freaking out enough by this point that I might have crossed a wire somewhere). I got the impression that they still talk from time to time.

I love this cousin anyway because she's always a blast to talk to, but y'all can bet there will be some serious grilling about this in the future.

HOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHIT

Ahem. I need to calm down and start coming up with non-flaily capslocky things to ask her about what he is/was like. God, I don't even know where to start (I'm still in the "flaily hands and high-pitched noises" stage). WHAT DO I DO WITH THIS INFORMATION HOLYCRAP.

So, internets, [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n and I kinda sorta finally finished Le Batfic. Like, really finished it. Final word count is about 52,000 words (give or take a few hundred after overall revisions). Holyshit.

Title: Celer, Silens, Mortalis (Part 14/Epilogue)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies and [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n
Summary: In which Brad gives a gift and makes an important visit, while Ray and Walt grow closer in more ways than one. All's well that ends well!

Happy Thanksgiving, internets (even to those of you who don't celebrate it). For lack of any fic or other interesting things to post, I give y'all this:

Granted, it's in a telecommunications capacity (no FaceSpace chatrooms or anything like that), but still. Really, USPO? Was it that slow of a day at the office? I can't even-- just no. Bad USPO, no biscuit.

In the mean time, does anyone (of the...like...five people that were probably following it) remember a certain Starsgard fic that has been comatose for quite sometime (including a Batfic-induced hiatus)?

Well, [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n sort of kicked my ass into finally writing some more.

Title: Picking Up The Pieces (Part 8)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Summary: In which Stark realizes he's quite out of his depth, which leads to consulting an old friend for help.
Usual disclaimer/boilerplate that I keep forgetting: This is all a work of fiction that never happened. It's the product of my overactive imagination, please don't sue, etc. etc. etc.

The question of what Stark is supposed to do now turns out to be an extremely good one... )

It's been so long since I posted anything for this that I recommend any interested parties go back and at least read the previous part as a refresher. As for this? Enjoy, and feel free to comment/flail as usual.

OhmyGodohmyGodohmyGod

Internets, this is actually happening. The New York trip is no longer a pipe dream.

We have plane tickets (leave in the evening on 12/17, come back in the afternoon on 12/21).

American Idiot is no longer a pipe dream. Le Boyfriend and I have tickets for the evening of the 18th in Row E of the orchestra section.

Which, unless I'm greatly misinterpreting the seating chart (which is entirely possible), sounds suspiciously like the fifth row.

OhmyGod. Excuse me while I boogaloo!
