IT'S SADLY NOT MY GK/AI CROSSOVER OR ANYTHING ELSE I'VE GOT GOING ON RN BUT IT'S A LITTLE HOCKEY FICLET TO HELP ME GET OVER MY USA MEN'S HOCKEY FEELS AND IT'S A THING AND I DON'T HATE IT AND EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Title: #SochiProblems
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Pairing: Patrick Kane/Jonathan Toews
Rating: PG (for language I guess)
Summary: In which an elevator breaks down and gives Pat and Jonny the chance for a talk at least one of them desperately needs.
A/N: Inspired by my all my misery feels following the USA/Canada men's hockey semifinal and the trainwreck that was the bronze medal game this morning, and also by those moments when you're feeling awful but just barely holding it together until someone says just the right thing to make you completely fall apart.

Of all the hard things Jonny has had to deal with in his life, he decides that watching Pat slowly crumble during the bronze medal game against Finland is easily in the top 10. )

Title: Learn to Block
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Pairing: Pre-/Implied Patrick Kane/Jonathan Toews (depending on how you look at it)
Rating: PG
Summary: In which a bad night against the Blues shows Kaner and Jonny rather unexpected sides of each other.
A/N: For [livejournal.com profile] jean_iris, my favorite enabler, who talked me into writing this in the first place and graciously helped me tease a germ of an idea into...this. I'm still a newbie to hockey fandom and to hockey in general, so this is probably hand-wavey as fuck and all dents and dings are definitely mine.

Jonny's not normally one to believe in conspiracies most of the time... )

(For non-hockey fans who are curious, this is Patrick Kane and this is Jonathan Toews and behavior like this is why I wrote something I didn't totally hate for the first time in several months).

Title: Clean Cut All-American (Really Ain't So Clean) (Part 6/6)
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies and [livejournal.com profile] mcl4r3n
Summary: In which Alex calls Stark's bluff and both boys lay their cards on the table.

Alex wakes up around ten o'clock the next morning… )

I did my best to hammer out any dents and dings, but I'm unbelievably rusty at this whole crazy writing thing so my apologies in advance if the end came out sounding a little blah (I was trying to leave the ending open to multiple interpretations). Enjoy!

Sacraments and Cigarettes by indigostohelit (on AO3) - St. Jimmy/Johnny, Johnny/Whatsername (Warning for character death) - Y'all, this is probably the best American Idiot fic I think I've ever read (if not, then easily one of the top 3). Reading it made me feel like I was back at the show again and I had to read it a couple of times to make sure I absorbed it all, it's just surreal.

Don't You Shake Alone by dsudis (on AO3) - Brad/Nate kid!fic - I don't normally go for kid!fic very often, but [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle gave it a glowing recommendation so I gave it a shot. Not only did it break my heart and bring embarrassing squeaky noises of glee out of me by turns, but it's also quite an apt depiction of PTSD. I read it all without taking a break, and I have a hunch that y'all will do the same thing.

Aaaand back to pondering my AI Will/Tunny road trip fic.

So [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle was telling me about this 5ss prompt that [livejournal.com profile] pjvilar gave her for a meme and I loved it so much that I kind of hijacked it and answered the thing myself. Copypasted and submitted for your approval:

Tunny/Will, American Idiot, snuggle. )

I'm aware that it's probably rusty as shit (and I suck at 5ss even at the best of times) but these are the first words I've written in at least a month that I didn't hate and immediately erase. THERE'S HOPE FOR ME YET.

Title: Stranded All In Love On My Own
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Pairing(s): One-sided Will/Tunny, implied Tunny/Grace
Rating: R (mostly for language)
Summary: Will always felt closer to Tunny than anyone else; he never realized before that that might actually mean something.
A/N: Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle for hammering out the dings, and to y'all for bearing with my muse. Think of this as a deleted scene (or a series of them) from my GK/AI crossover 'verse.

When Will thinks about it, really thinks about it, he realizes that he's always had kind of a soft spot for Tunny... )

(Or: "Something probably no one is geeky enough to care about but me...")

H'okay, y'all, so (as some of you might already know) my uni has me doing a semester-long senior internship at a physical therapy clinic for another university. At said internship, we have some in-house software that lets us mix/match varying exercises and print out instructions for them with pictures/videos to give to patients. Recently, I noticed we have a section for amputees! (I noticed because one of our current regulars is a below-the-knee amputee)

I clicked on the femoral/above-the-knee section and found this handy dandy list (cut for size) )

So, for anyone who's ever wanted to write Tunny going through physical therapy or just plain wanted to learn more about what he probably had to worry about, I can help! The only thing is that I only get access to this through my supervisor's account (which he gave to me in confidence), so anyone who wants some of this stuff pretty much has to go through me. I'm reasonable though, so anyone who's interested is welcome to ask and I'll see what I can do for y'all.

P.S. - So, [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle wrote some fucking amazing GK/AI crossover zombie AU (yes, you read that correctly) fic and I just thought I'd put that out because more things like this need to exist. I LOVE IT LIKE BURNING AND Y'ALL WILL TOO. THAT IS ALL.

Howdy doo, internets. Yes, I'm alive, I've just been in a rather spectacular brain chemistry slump lately. I've barely gotten out of bed over the last three days or so, and I spent a distressing amount of all that time in bed absolutely dead to the world. I think my Twitter sums it up pretty nicely )

My last slump lasted for two and a half months. I hope this one is a bit shorter (assuming it's not an extension of the last one), because I really don't have the spoons to deal with calling my shrink to tell him about this -- and to deal with the ensuing shitstorm with my nearest and dearest.

...Crikey if Stark's singing doesn't help though *wistful sigh*

Appropriate gif is appropriate

But enough whining, on to my next piece of news; [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle and I kinda sorta finished Hourglass (that fic we wrote for [livejournal.com profile] pjvilar ). It's pretty good, if the comments so far are anything to go by.

Title: Hourglass
Rating: NC-17
Author(s): [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle and [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Pairing/Characters: Brad/Nate; ensemble, OFC, OMC.
Word Count: 15,650 SEE?! EVERY FIC I TOUCH TURNS INTO A BEHEMOTH
Warnings/Spoilers: Warnings for drug abuse, suicide, language, racial/sexist slurs, supernatural themes; Spoilers for mentions of various episodes of Generation Kill, however this is wildly AU!fic. We've also taken some vast liberties in using some Spanish terms and referring to Islam and Native American spirituality, so while our research skills are generally kick-ass, we are neither Spanish, Islamic or Native American. Please let us know if there are any glaring, cringe-inducing errors.
Disclaimer: Based on the HBO mini-series 'Generation Kill', and the characters portrayed by the actors. Not based on real events, this didn't happen. No offense intended, not ours, no profit here - don't sue.
A.N.: Out of a prompt from [livejournal.com profile] pjvilar at [livejournal.com profile] generation_kill's 96: A Generation Kill Halloween Fic Fest, who wanted 'Nate makes a deal with the devil'. Beta-read by authors.

Summary: Nate never considered how much time they wasted fighting for things that didn't matter until his time started running out.

Master post this-a-way

...ugh, I don't think I'll ever stop seeing formatting as a giant pain in the ass. Oh well, hope y'all like the fic, that's pretty much all I've got for now. I hope all is well out there in internet land <3

Just dropping in to say that I posted more of [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle's and my Nate makes a deal with the devil fic (as written for [livejournal.com profile] pjvilar). And by "more" I mean something like 10,000 words -- seriously, I busted the comment character limit three times before I got all that shit balanced out right. Enjoy! (Also, in terms of triggers, be advised that one or two parts talk of suicide).

It's official, every fic I touch grows into an unwieldy, massive behemoth. WHY CAN I NOT WRITE SHORT FIC? *headscreen*

Howdy, internets! My sincerest apologies for dropping off the face of the Earth, I got sucked into studying for two tests this past Friday (one was a disaster, another was challenging but I'm not sure how I did) and shit for my job and trying to sort out my internship and just...real life basically went through round 84930392084 of kicking my ass. Again. But, then again, I suppose one's last year of university is supposed to be hellishly difficult and labor intensive...hm.

To make up for it, have some comment fic [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle and I have been working on in response to [livejournal.com profile] pjvilar's prompt in which Nate makes a deal with the devil -- or, in which [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle and I torture the everloving shit out of Nate. I highly recommend it for any angst fiends out there in search of a fix.

So shit's been pretty insane lately, but this weekend, by contrast, has been uneventful. I guess I needed it to recover from this past week, but still, I think this gif sums it up pretty nicely:

Photobucket

I guess I should enjoy it while it lasts, because I have another test this week and a group project due as well (different class than the test). I don't have high hopes for either, especially considering how fucking useless my group has been for the latter and how the professor seems to think this is all somehow my fault. Sigh.

And to think, the sickening irony of this is that I'll probably miss the shit out of university once I've been out in the real world like a motherfucking adult for a few years.

P.S. - In spite of (or perhaps because of) how busy life's been lately, it's sort of sad how much I'm looking forward to my bi-annual tradition of loading up on candy, watching Nightmare Before Christmas, and eating myself into a diabetic coma while doing so.

So....I fic'ed some more -- mostly because my flisties (and their flisties) are horrible enablers, but also because this keeps me from stressing about how university is conspiring to make me die of a massive ulcer.

Title: Feeling This
Author(s): [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Pairing: Starsgard
Rating: Not rated, PG at the very most for a smidge of language
Summary: In which the boys find that letting go is harder than one might expect.
Author's Note: Written for [livejournal.com profile] melkerr as a sequel to Reflection. [livejournal.com profile] melkerr wanted sappy fic and, being the hopeless romantic that I am, I was all too happy to oblige. Title is taken from a Blink-182 song (shut up, I can hear y'all judging me from here).

It's about 10:00 at night... )

I just couldn't leave them like I did. Some people have it in them to torture their characters and call it a day, but I ain't one of 'em -- I need at least a bittersweet ending. THAT probably deserves some judging *headscreen*

I also realized it's probably a sign of how long it's been since I went to the movies that I thought Captain America was still in theaters (I think the last thing I saw was Don't Be Afraid of the Dark). I intend to remedy that this weekend, so I have to ask: what's playing that's good these days?

Howdy doo, internets! I had a horribly difficult mid-term this morning and I guess it upset my recently-revived muse, because I wound up coming up with unbelievably angsty Starsgard comment!fic out of the blue. It came out better than I expected, so I thought y'all might get a kick out of it.

Title: Reflection
Author(s): [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Pairing: Implied Starsgard
Rating: G/Not rated
Summary: In which Stark tries not to dwell in the past on what should be the happiest day of his life -- easier said than done.
Author's Note: Written for [livejournal.com profile] leviathans_moon, who was in the mood for a spot of Stark fic (while I was apparently in the mood for out-angsting myself). Enjoy!

So, internets, I sort of got the GK/AI crossover up to 16,000 words last night. Parts I and IV are written in their entirety (yeah, I don't get my brain either), part II is partially written and completely storyboarded, part III is almost completely storyboarded, and I still have to start storyboarding part V.

Photobucket
SHIT, BRAIN, GET IT TOGETHER.

*ahem* Anyway, I decided to post a little snippet of part IV as a cookie for y'all and a "thank you" for everyone who's been listening to me bitch about this fic for so long.

Title: Take These Sunken Eyes (And Learn To See)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Pairing: Gen, or Tunny/EG if you tilt your head and squint
Rating: PG/PG-13 (just to be safe)
Summary: Tunny gets sick in the middle of recovering, and gets a little TLC from a rather...extraordinary source.
Author's note: I guess this could stand on its own, but this scene is meant to serve as something of a companion piece to Blackbird (which is the same scene from Grace's POV) so it's probably better to read them both. [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle is pretty much a goddess for putting up with my various neuroses without strangling me (and even betaing my stuff anyway).

When Tunny starts to get a cough... )

So yeah, hopefully someone out there got some enjoyment out of that. Comments of all kinds are, as usual, both welcome and strongly encouraged, even if they're simple "I liked this" or "Shut up and gtfo the internet" type comments.

In other news, I went to the doctor today just to get my BC script updated again and wound up waiting for a solid fucking hour in a waiting room with multiple screaming children. This, given the migraine I've had since last night, meant I was pretty much in my own personal tenth circle of Hell.

On the bright side, I lost fifteen pounds since I last checked a month ago, and am now safely in the "normal" weight range for my height AND my blood pressure is normal (instead of being all fucked from my meds like it was before) \o/

This post brought to you by Tunny and the boys because I miss Stark and his stupid adorable face

Title: Come As You Are
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Pairing(s): Tunny/Will/Extraordinary Girl (+ Tunny/Will, Will/EG, Tunny/EG)
Word Count: 30,247
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Every year on Halloween, Jingletown's hottest (and only) night spot, Club Suburbia, holds a costume party. This year, it takes a night of being something they're not in order to make Tunny, Will, and Grace start to see who they really are.
Author's Note: I'm not entirely sure how I came to Halloween costumes when I was kicking around ideas for this, but once I thought of it, it just seemed to fit. I sure as fuck wasn't expecting it to get as huge as it did though, hopefully it's not too crack-tastic and ridiculous /o\ This is dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle and [livejournal.com profile] pau494 for their amazingly patient and helpful beta work -- seriously, y'all are the best <3

Salutations, internets, I come bearing proof that gravity can be very hard if you're a five(ish) month old kitten:

Cut to protect flist page formatting )

All together now: D'awwwwww

Day Ten: Have you ever gone outside your comfort zone and written a pairing you liked, but found you couldn't write, or a pairing you didn't like, and found you could?

Well, I suppose writing Remus/Sirius/James was rather uncomfortable purely on the basis that I had never written threesome fic before that, but otherwise...not really. I'm not sure if this makes me ultra-flexible or a serious wimp, but there it is.

Finally, have a snippet of Idiot fic I thought up at around four in the morning, just 'cause. I plan to use it at some point in the GK/AI crossover, but I suppose it could also stand on its own since they don't really specify how Tunny lost his leg beyond getting blown up somehow.

There's a dull, tinny ringing... )

It might possibly be a little stream-of-consciousness-y on account of how early it was in the morning when I wrote it, but Le Boyfriend said it seems pretty good so I figured it should do as a snippet of fic for y'all's time. Enjoy :)

I know, I know, it's probably mediocre at best, but maybe it'll inspire one of y'all, Idk.
