YOU GUYS, YOU GUYS, HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS, AN OFFICIAL/LEGIT VIDEO OF AMERICAN IDIOT WITH THE ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST IS COMING!!!!!!!

 photo 2zpkwoy.gif
The only thing about this that falls short of my reaction is a high pitched noise I made that I'm pretty sure only dogs could hear

Also Stark is doing things again (for those who didn't know) )

Clearly the universe loves me and wants me to be happy, at least for the moment.

P.S. - Am I the only one who thinks Stark's obvious Gomer Pyle impression came out sounding a little like Kermit the Frog instead? And did this leave anyone else with a burning desire to hear him sing It Ain't Easy Being Green? ...just me? Alrighty then.

Sacraments and Cigarettes by indigostohelit (on AO3) - St. Jimmy/Johnny, Johnny/Whatsername (Warning for character death) - Y'all, this is probably the best American Idiot fic I think I've ever read (if not, then easily one of the top 3). Reading it made me feel like I was back at the show again and I had to read it a couple of times to make sure I absorbed it all, it's just surreal.

Don't You Shake Alone by dsudis (on AO3) - Brad/Nate kid!fic - I don't normally go for kid!fic very often, but [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle gave it a glowing recommendation so I gave it a shot. Not only did it break my heart and bring embarrassing squeaky noises of glee out of me by turns, but it's also quite an apt depiction of PTSD. I read it all without taking a break, and I have a hunch that y'all will do the same thing.

Aaaand back to pondering my AI Will/Tunny road trip fic.

So [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle was telling me about this 5ss prompt that [livejournal.com profile] pjvilar gave her for a meme and I loved it so much that I kind of hijacked it and answered the thing myself. Copypasted and submitted for your approval:

Tunny/Will, American Idiot, snuggle. )

I'm aware that it's probably rusty as shit (and I suck at 5ss even at the best of times) but these are the first words I've written in at least a month that I didn't hate and immediately erase. THERE'S HOPE FOR ME YET.

Title: Stranded All In Love On My Own
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Pairing(s): One-sided Will/Tunny, implied Tunny/Grace
Rating: R (mostly for language)
Summary: Will always felt closer to Tunny than anyone else; he never realized before that that might actually mean something.
A/N: Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle for hammering out the dings, and to y'all for bearing with my muse. Think of this as a deleted scene (or a series of them) from my GK/AI crossover 'verse.

When Will thinks about it, really thinks about it, he realizes that he's always had kind of a soft spot for Tunny... )

(Or: "Something probably no one is geeky enough to care about but me...")

H'okay, y'all, so (as some of you might already know) my uni has me doing a semester-long senior internship at a physical therapy clinic for another university. At said internship, we have some in-house software that lets us mix/match varying exercises and print out instructions for them with pictures/videos to give to patients. Recently, I noticed we have a section for amputees! (I noticed because one of our current regulars is a below-the-knee amputee)

I clicked on the femoral/above-the-knee section and found this handy dandy list (cut for size) )

So, for anyone who's ever wanted to write Tunny going through physical therapy or just plain wanted to learn more about what he probably had to worry about, I can help! The only thing is that I only get access to this through my supervisor's account (which he gave to me in confidence), so anyone who wants some of this stuff pretty much has to go through me. I'm reasonable though, so anyone who's interested is welcome to ask and I'll see what I can do for y'all.

P.S. - This has regular PT exercises also, so any non-Idiot fans who might be curious are welcome to talk to me about it as well :)

So today is Veteran's Day, which is near and dear to me as a GK/AI(Tunny) fangirl, but also as someone with a number of IRL friends in the military; some of them have seen combat, some of them haven't, but every one of them would gladly risk their lives over and over to defend this country and so I'd be a pretty poor excuse for a friend not to honor that somehow.

In short, Happy Veteran's Day from someone who doesn't blame wars on the troops fighting them, but on the politicians who perpetuate them. Much love to all of said troops, friends of mine or otherwise.

All right, so I've been mainlining Law & Order: Special Victims Unit all afternoon to try to distract myself from the general suck of RL at the moment. In the middle of watching an episode about some shenanigans going down at a sex/swingers club, I realized someone looked kind of familiar...

This makes the second cast member I've seen on SVU... )

Does this make anyone else think of and/or want threesome/foursome/moresome fic, or is it just me? Anyone?

Internets: *collectively side-eyes me*

Just me? All righty then. I now return you to your regularly scheduled internetting.

Blargh. So I just got out of the first test in my Drugs & Behavior class and I'm not feeling super confident about how I did. Mostly because there were a gazillion questions about the central/peripheral/autonomic/somatic/sympathetic/parasympathetic nervous system and I've never been able to keep all that shit straight. I guess the world's lucky I don't want to be a neurologist...

Anyway, on an unrelated note, how are y'all? I used to talk to a bunch of you outside LJ but now it feels like you've all disappeared. I still love you guys and miss the hell out of you, I'm just internetless and getting my ass kicked by real life at the moment. Come back to meeee *grabby hands*

On the bright side, my muse may be coming back -- it stirred with the ghost of an idea for the GK/AI crossover while I was taking my test. The idea died before I could get out of the test and write it down, but that's still a good sign, right? Right?

This random hedgehog thanks y'all for your time:

P.S. - I have a collection of scratches and general lacerations on my hands/forearms on account of my cat, and I've been getting the weirdest fucking looks from people for them all day. I don't get it, do they think I'm cutting myself and just suck at being sneaky about it?

P.P.S. - So I heard Lea Michele and Theo Stockman split recently. Is it sad that I was kind of gleeful about it because this means Theo can creep on Esper and Stark everyone without looking entirely like a gigantic jackass?

Dear maintenance guys working right outside my window,

I wish I could find words to describe how fucking much I hate you right now. I didn't think it was physically possible for ladders to make that much noise (much less the hammering y'all have been doing all goddamn day) but by God, you guys managed it. FUCK OFF ALREADY.

No love,
[livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies

ANYWAY, just in case any of y'all ever feel like you're a giant loser who needs to get a life, console yourselves with the fact that you'd have to try pretty hard to out-nerd me. Why, you ask?

I put fandom into my jewelry.

*facepalm* )

Finally, I got around to watching Lilo & Stitch today, and have decided that Stitch is officially my favorite Disney character of all time (OF ALL TIME). Does it seem weirdly fitting somehow to anyone else that my favorite Disney character is a psychotic little alien? I feel like that says something about me as a person psychologically...

Ugh, I don't know if my brain chemistry is out of whack again or if my muse is just fucking off again or if staying up to chat all night with [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle is finally starting to break my brain or what, but I can't seem to be bothered to write anything. I want to write, I really do, but I opened up the Google Docs for EVERYTHING I have going. Nothing. Zip. Zero.

Anyway, I've already been having an odd sort of day as it is, starting by watching this video and paying closer attention to what he's saying this time (shutupIcanfeelyourjudgment):

Yes, it's Michael Esper again )

That part where he mentions dropping out of highschool sophomore year due to issues with depression? I was in my sophomore year when I dropped out of high school the first time, due to a nervous breakdown caused by a massive bipolar-related depressive episode.

In other words? Mind. Officially. Blown. Maybe there are/were more reasons than I originally guessed that I felt like I understood Will a lot when I saw the show. I feel sort of ridiculous for being so boggled by this, I'm just...struck by the freaky coincidence, I guess.

Finally, have a meme I gacked from [livejournal.com profile] lemniciate:

The Hypothetical AU Meme: Take any one of the fandoms you know I write in (or think I should), and give me a type of AU (space opera AU, pirate AU, superhero AU, Ancient Rome, etc). I will then explain what story from your chosen fandom I would write for your chosen type of AU.

Oof, sometimes I really suck at updating this thing. Maybe I need to find myself another thirty-day writing meme.

Just dropping in mostly to relay a hilarious GK fangirl moment I had yesterday: Le Boyfriend's mother's birthday was yesterday, so we went out with his family to this Brazillian steakhouse (complete with Portuguese name and words on the menu). I may or may not have spent embarrassing portions of the night quoting Baptista lines to myself....*ahem*

Anyway, have a couple of my favorite shipping related gifs. Get your slash goggles on tight, folks )

So, internets, I sort of got the GK/AI crossover up to 16,000 words last night. Parts I and IV are written in their entirety (yeah, I don't get my brain either), part II is partially written and completely storyboarded, part III is almost completely storyboarded, and I still have to start storyboarding part V.

Photobucket
SHIT, BRAIN, GET IT TOGETHER.

*ahem* Anyway, I decided to post a little snippet of part IV as a cookie for y'all and a "thank you" for everyone who's been listening to me bitch about this fic for so long.

Title: Take These Sunken Eyes (And Learn To See)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Pairing: Gen, or Tunny/EG if you tilt your head and squint
Rating: PG/PG-13 (just to be safe)
Summary: Tunny gets sick in the middle of recovering, and gets a little TLC from a rather...extraordinary source.
Author's note: I guess this could stand on its own, but this scene is meant to serve as something of a companion piece to Blackbird (which is the same scene from Grace's POV) so it's probably better to read them both. [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle is pretty much a goddess for putting up with my various neuroses without strangling me (and even betaing my stuff anyway).

When Tunny starts to get a cough... )

So yeah, hopefully someone out there got some enjoyment out of that. Comments of all kinds are, as usual, both welcome and strongly encouraged, even if they're simple "I liked this" or "Shut up and gtfo the internet" type comments.

In other news, I went to the doctor today just to get my BC script updated again and wound up waiting for a solid fucking hour in a waiting room with multiple screaming children. This, given the migraine I've had since last night, meant I was pretty much in my own personal tenth circle of Hell.

On the bright side, I lost fifteen pounds since I last checked a month ago, and am now safely in the "normal" weight range for my height AND my blood pressure is normal (instead of being all fucked from my meds like it was before) \o/

This post brought to you by Tunny and the boys because I miss Stark and his stupid adorable face

Title: Come As You Are
Author: [livejournal.com profile] emerald_skies
Pairing(s): Tunny/Will/Extraordinary Girl (+ Tunny/Will, Will/EG, Tunny/EG)
Word Count: 30,247
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Every year on Halloween, Jingletown's hottest (and only) night spot, Club Suburbia, holds a costume party. This year, it takes a night of being something they're not in order to make Tunny, Will, and Grace start to see who they really are.
Author's Note: I'm not entirely sure how I came to Halloween costumes when I was kicking around ideas for this, but once I thought of it, it just seemed to fit. I sure as fuck wasn't expecting it to get as huge as it did though, hopefully it's not too crack-tastic and ridiculous /o\ This is dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle and [livejournal.com profile] pau494 for their amazingly patient and helpful beta work -- seriously, y'all are the best <3

I sort of finished it last night. Final wordcount is 30,187 and all that remains now is some last minute fine-tuning and then I can finally post this beast.

I AM EXCITE. Also, ILU, [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle, FOR KICKING MY ASS INTO FINISHING THIS. Now I can get back to the GK/AI crossover with undivided concentration *glee*

By Raptor Jesus, it seems it really WAS the Russians coming after LJ again.

Seriously? Again with this shit? For one thing, I thought Russian journals had their own server, so why take the whole site down? That shit's just sloppy. Being the raging internet addict that I am, I'm pretty much like this after four days without LJ:

Photobucket

Russia might find itself in a wide world of hurt if it pulls shit like this again *mutters* Ditto re: LJ if it doesn't give us free paid time to make up for this crap.

On a brighter note, talking to [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle about various American Idiot-related things has intensified my pathetic fangirlishness of it -- and of Michael Esper (probably because I'm suffering from Stark withdrawal *facepalm*) So, to get a bit of it out of my system, I decided to a picspam of a certain spiky haired Twitter addict.

'Take away the sensation inside...' )

I'm not exactly sure when he moved past adorable and into lickable in my head, but I'm pretty sure it's all [livejournal.com profile] looleebelle's fault.

Finally, I rented a few movies in the last couple of days and figured I'd post my (brief) thoughts about them:

- The Rite - It's pretty much The Exorcist with Anthony Hopkins where Max von Sydow should be, but it's still pretty decent -- pretty much just because of Anthony Hopkins. A few moments were legit unsettling, and it's definitely pretty entertaining if you're into the whole "crisis of faith" trope, my major problem with it was that the ending seemed kind of rushed (like the writers ran out of steam or something). 7/10 over all, worth renting if you're bored and looking for something to watch.

- Mirrors 2 (because Le Boyfriend and I enjoyed the original) - This one's more a study in cool CGI and camera tricks -- and watching people die in really fucking messy ways. The plot is kind of blah, but it does succeed in building enough emotion that Le Boyfriend and I actually cheered when one of the surprise antagonists got his comeuppance. Plus, like I said, the effects were really pretty cool for such a low budget movie. 7.5/10 overall, mostly worth watching if you're a sucker for effects and camera tricks like me.

- My Soul To Take - Okay, I confess, I'm a horror movie wonk, so the fact that Wes Craven directed this made me rent it anyway in spite of all the godawful reviews it got. It managed to pull a pretty nice last minute twist at the end (in terms of who the killer was) and there were a lot of classic Wes Craven style tropes, but there was SO much blood that eventually it stopped being gory and started being just plain ridiculous. My other problem (and Le Boyfriend's) was that it tried to do too many ideas at once, so the movie felt a bit cluttered as a result -- if someone had sat down with the writers and streamlined it somewhat, I think this could have been really, really good. 6.5/10, I'd only recommend this if you're a diehard Wes Craven fan or a horror movie wonk in general (don't go into this one expecting Oscar material or something).

...So those weren't exactly brief, but hopefully they were entertaining!

Salutations, internets, I come bearing proof that gravity can be very hard if you're a five(ish) month old kitten:

Cut to protect flist page formatting )

All together now: D'awwwwww

Day Ten: Have you ever gone outside your comfort zone and written a pairing you liked, but found you couldn't write, or a pairing you didn't like, and found you could?

Well, I suppose writing Remus/Sirius/James was rather uncomfortable purely on the basis that I had never written threesome fic before that, but otherwise...not really. I'm not sure if this makes me ultra-flexible or a serious wimp, but there it is.

Finally, have a snippet of Idiot fic I thought up at around four in the morning, just 'cause. I plan to use it at some point in the GK/AI crossover, but I suppose it could also stand on its own since they don't really specify how Tunny lost his leg beyond getting blown up somehow.

There's a dull, tinny ringing... )

It might possibly be a little stream-of-consciousness-y on account of how early it was in the morning when I wrote it, but Le Boyfriend said it seems pretty good so I figured it should do as a snippet of fic for y'all's time. Enjoy :)

Oh lawd, internets, I was watching the debate yesterday on CNN and it left me...somewhat worried (those of you who know me on Facebook already know what I'm talking about).

First of all, in the context of talking about how he thinks border control is more important than what's going on in the Middle East, Ron Paul said that America should worry more about its own border instead of "the border between Iraq and Afghanistan" (verbatim quote).

That's a lovely thought (and a good sound bite), except for the part where Iraq and Afghanistan don't touch. Oops.

Photobucket

Maybe he means America should worry about protecting Iran?

As impressive of a gaffe as that was, it wasn't quite as funny as when Mitt Romney, in response to a question about how he would handle stationing the troops in the Middle East, said that he would gladly hand Afghanistan over to the Taliban military as soon as his commanders say it would be wise to do so.

Photobucket

Ooh, damn that's awkward.

Internets, these people want to run America (and a worryingly large number of Americans want to let them run the country). Things like this are why I despair of the state of the world so, in the spirit of the occasion and because the Tonys happened and I was feeling nostalgic, I'm going to let someone else express my opinion far better than I ever could )
